Sci-Fox is pleased to present an exclusive first-look at one of next summer's most anticipated releases: the (as yet untitled) "X-Files" motion picture.
Based on the award-winning television series created by Chris Carter, "The X- Files" motion picture follows FBI Special Agents Mulder and Scully, who are drawn into a web of intrigue while investigating the mysterious bombing of a Dallas office building and the secrets buried inside.
The film stars David Duchovny as Agent Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Agent Dana Scully. The film also features series regulars Mitch Pileggi as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner, William B. Davis as The Cigarette-Smoking Man, John Neville as The Well-Manicured Man, and conspiracy buffs The Lone Gunmen--Dean Haglund, Tom Braidwood and Bruce Harwood.
Joining the cast in supporting roles are Academy AwardŽ winner Martin Landau, OscarŽ-nominee Armin Mueller-Stahl, Blythe Danner, Jeffrey DeMunn,Terry O'Quinn, Glenne Headly and Lucas Black.
"The X-Files" feature film is directed by Rob Bowman, who has previously helmed 23 episodes of the series. The screenplay was written by series creator and executive producer Chris Carter, based on a story by Carter and Frank Spotnitz.
The film is produced by Chris Carter and Daniel Sackheim. Lata Ryan serves as executive producer, and Frank Spotnitz as co-producer.
With "The X-Files" feature film, Chris Carter is striving to make a movie that will excite and please the show's avid fans and also appeal to a whole new audience of filmgoers who may not be as familiar with the series. "The X-Files" feature film was produced during the hiatus between the show's fourth and fifth seasons and is scheduled for release in summer of 1998. The film will answer questions presented during the series' fifth year and its season-ending cliffhanger.
