Lucky and Lizzie:
I Need To Make Some Money
scene

{Sitting on a bench at the docks, studying}

Lizzie:  "What time is it?”

Lucky:  “We're almost done, all right? Who helps Darnay escape the first time he is imprisoned?”

Lizzie:  “Dr. Manette.”

Lucky:  “Last line of the book?”

Lizzie: " ‘It is a far, far better thing that I do than I have ever done. It is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.’ "

Lucky:  “Excellent. You're ready.” {He hands her the notebook}

Lizzie:  “You know, you're right. After the first hundred pages, this book is pretty good. I guess we better go to school now.”

Lucky:  “Actually, I have something important I need to take care of. Kind of has to do with our future.”

Lucky:  “So we jumped off the ship in Jakarta, and we had to separate in order to give those guys the slip.”

Lizzie:  “Wait, wait. You had to go off by yourself in a foreign country? What language do they speak in Jakarta?”

Lucky:  “Indonesian.”

Lizzie:  “You can speak Indonesian?”

Lucky:  “No, no. Listen. But I got sign language down to an art form. That's not the point I’m trying to make. Ok, the point is if I hadn't had a wad of cash in my backpack, I would have had trouble being on my own until I could hook up with my parents.”

Lizzie:  “God, I can't believe all this stuff you've done.”

Lucky:  “Ok. You know how I’ve been saying the Spencer-Cassadine war is getting ready to explode?”

Lizzie:  “Mm-hmm.”

Lucky:  “Well, one of the things that got drilled into me growing up is what we called having the backpack ready, which holds, among other things, a significant amount of cash. Enough to carry the family through an emergency.”

Lizzie:  “So you think because your dad's not here, then you have to do this for your family?”

Lucky:  “No. Mom and Dad, they know how to take care of themselves and LuLu. I'm starting to think I need to get something ready for us, for you and me.”

Lizzie:  “Money? How much?”

Lucky:  “Well, enough to last a while if we need it. Three or four months, even.”

Lizzie:  “Well, you know I’ve got some saved up from working –“

Lucky:  “Elizabeth, Elizabeth. Not to be chauvinistic, but this is something that falls under my job heading, ok?”

Lizzie:  “Oh, don't be so –“

Lucky:  “I want to do this. This is our future. I think it's time I started taking care of it.”

Lizzie:  “I like the sound of me being a part of your future.”

Lucky:  “Good, because you are. You better get to school or you're going to miss that test.”

Lizzie:  “Yeah. So are you going to try to work extra hours at the bike shop or –“

Lucky:  “I think that could take my whole future.”

Lizzie:  “So how are you going to get this money?”

Lucky:  “I’m not sure yet.”

Lizzie:  “Lucky.”

Lucky:  “I’ll tell you, ok?”

Lizzie:  “Well, I guess I’d better go to school. Now I’m going to worry about you.”

Lucky:  “Don't. Nothing's going to happen to me. I tell you what. You just have this one test, then you're free, right?”

Lizzie:  “Mm-hmm.”

Lucky:  “You have to work?”

Lizzie:  “Nope.”

Lucky:  “No? All right. Then meet me back here. Go.” {He leans over and kisses her}

Lizzie:  “I love you.” {She quickly kisses him and then leaves}

Johnny:  {Opening the door to the Penthouse} “Lucky Spencer to see you.” {Lucky walks in}

Sonny:  “Hey. Look at you. Every time I see you, you grow six inches taller.”

Lucky:  “I didn't know you'd be here.”

Sonny:  “Relax, it's not a secret.”

Jason:  “What's up?”

Lucky:  “I need to make some money.”

Jason:  “You want a loan?”

Lucky:  “No, I want to work.”

Jason:  “You know what? I don't have anything more than what you're already doing at the shop.”

Sonny:  “Have you talked to your old man?”

Lucky:  “No, he's out of town.”

Jason:  “Yeah, Lucky’s living above the bike shop in exchange for odd jobs, and he's putting everything in the computer. What's that thing you're building?”

Lucky:  “A web site.”

Jason:  “Right, right.”

Sonny:  “Have you asked your mother for, you know –“

Lucky:  “No, this has nothing to do with her. Well, you know I’m looking so, if something comes to mind, will you let me know?”

Sonny:  “What are you prepared to do?”

Lucky:  “That depends on what you have in mind.”

Sonny:  “Well, you know, if you don't mind, Jason, I was thinking maybe he can run something on up to Canada for me.”

Lucky:  {Sonny hands him a package} “Am I allowed to ask what's in the package?”

Sonny:  “Nothing questionable. I mean, it's just confidential papers. I don't like going through the mail, you know, because I don't trust that. But you know what? I can go ahead and ask one of Jason’s men if you don't want to do it.”

Lucky:  “No. No, I’ll do it.”

Sonny:  “Ok. {He hands him some money} Half now, half when you return. Go ahead and pull out travel expenses from that. You got the address?”

Lucky:  “Mm-hmm.”

Sonny:  “Anything else?”

Lucky:  “If I get stopped at the border, is it ok if anyone looks inside? Is that a problem?”

Sonny:  “Are you going to be moving anything else?”

Lucky:  “No.”

Sonny:  “Then you won't be stopped.”

Lucky:  “All right. See you when I get back.”

Sonny:  “All right.”

Lucky:  “Thanks.” {He leaves}

Jason:  {Smiling} “You know, I could have been up and back in one night.”

Sonny:  “Yeah, but you don't need the money. It makes the kid happy. It's harmless, keeps him off the street. Besides, we got business to discuss.“

Lizzie:  {Seeing Lucky come down the steps with a bag} “You going somewhere?”

Lucky:  “Yeah, I’m going to be out of town for a couple of days. I got a job.”

Lizzie:  “Doing what?”

Lucky:  “Somebody needs something delivered by someone he can trust.”

Lizzie:  “Jason?”

Lucky:  “You can't really ask me a lot of questions about it. But I promise it's nothing that's going to get me in trouble. And the pay will provide the money I think we need.”

Lizzie:  “Then can I go with you?”

Lucky:  “I don't think I want to try to explain all this to your grandmother, you know. I won't be gone long, though, ok? I was wondering -- I need you to do a favor for me. Could you drop by my mom's or give her a call, just let her know I’ll be in touch with her?”

Lizzie:  {She nods} “Mm-hmm.”

Lucky:  “Ok. Oh, how'd your test go?”

Lizzie:  “Aced it.”

Lucky:  “Yeah?”

Lizzie:  “Mm-hmm.”

Lucky:  “Cool. {He kisses her} I better go. I'll be back in a couple of days, ok?”

Lizzie:  “Be careful.”

Lucky:  {He starts to walk off, but turns back} “Elizabeth, you're just too beautiful, you know that? {He kisses her again} I love you.” {He leaves}
