{At the Spencer home}
Laura: “I’m glad you came by. We haven't had a visit in a long time.”
Lizzie: “I know. Hey, where's LuLu?”
Laura: “Taking her morning nap.”
Lizzie: “Oh. I'm disappointed.”
Laura: “Oh. Well, is that the reason you came by -- to see my little daughter?”
Lizzie: “That, and I have a specific reason.”
Laura: “What is it?”
Lizzie: “Lucky wanted me to tell you that he had to go out of town.”
Laura:
“Look, I don't want to ask you to betray a confidence, but can you at least
tell me whether or not he's in trouble?”
Lizzie: “Lucky’s not in any trouble. He needed to make some money, so he took a job.”
Laura: “A job? What about school?”
Lizzie: “Well, he finished all his semester's tests -- aced them all, of course. And for the rest of the week, we just have teacher conferences.”
Laura: “Did he say why he needs the money?”
Lizzie: “He wants to make sure that he's going to be able to support himself. Like you said, Lucky’s pretty independent.”
Laura: “I know. Oh, how did the time go by so quickly? Oh. It's a rhetorical question. You don't have to answer it.”
Lizzie: “I think time is what your sons needed.”
Laura: “To get closer to each other, you mean?”
Lizzie: “Well, as incredible as it seems, they've become pretty good friends. It's taken a while, but I think they finally realize that they're both terrific guys.”
Laura: “So they're still getting along, then?”
Lizzie:
“Oh, well, now, they disagree all the time. But now it's more like the
way friends disagree -- you know, Nikolas will make a suggestion, and then
Lucky will come up with another idea, and then Nikolas will make fun of
him. {Laura looks amazed} You know, they're constantly teasing each other,
making jokes about each other. But underneath it all, I can see a respect
and affection.”
Laura:
“This is so good to hear.”
Lizzie: “They've overcome a lot. You should be proud of them.”
Laura: “Oh, I am, so much. {There's a knock on the door and Laura gets up} Excuse me. {Opening the door} Sonny?”
Sonny: “Hey.”
Laura: “What a surprise. Come on in.”
Sonny: “Thanks.”
Laura: “It's cold. When did you get back to town?”
Sonny:
“A couple days ago. Staying away turned out to be a little harder than
I thought.” {Lizzie is looking at him in awe}
Laura:
“Sonny Corinthos, this is Elizabeth Webber. It's Lucky’s girlfriend.”
Sonny: {He looks at Laura, then turns to Lizzie} “Oh. My pleasure.” {He shakes her hand}
Laura: “If you're here to see Luke, he's not here.”
Sonny: “Yeah, I know. He's out of town. You all right?”
Laura: “Not too bad, other than constantly losing track of my family.”
Sonny: “Yeah. Well, maybe I can help.”
Laura: “How?”
Sonny:
“I’ve seen Lucky.”
Laura: “What about Lucky?”
Lizzie: “Is he in trouble?”
Sonny: “No. No, no. He just happened to tell me he was going out of town.”
Laura: “I know. He told Elizabeth, and she told me.”
Sonny: “Good, good. Then I just -- I just want to make sure you knew.”
Laura: “I do. How do you know, though?”
Sonny: “He came by Jason’s. He wanted to make some money. I needed some papers to be delivered, so I gave him a job.”
Laura: {Upset} “You gave him a job?”
Sonny: “Strictly legal. I promise you that. I didn't want you to worry, because I’ve heard you've done a lot of that lately.”
Laura: “Ok. Thanks for telling me.”
Sonny: “Well, anyway, I don't want to interrupt what's going on here. It was nice meeting you.”
Lizzie: “Actually, I was just leaving. I've got to go meet Nikolas. We're going to pick up a birthday present for Emily. It was nice to meet you, Mr. Corinthos.”
Sonny: “Next time, call me Sonny.”
Lizzie: “Ok. {She gathers her things} Thank you for the hot chocolate, and tell LuLu I’m really sorry I missed her.”
Laura: “Ok. And thank you for everything, Elizabeth.”
Lizzie: “Sure.” {She looks at them both and then leaves}
Sonny: “She seems nice.”
Laura: “Yeah. She's great. Lucky's crazy about her. How long will he be gone?”
Sonny: “A few days.”
Laura: “Mm-hmm. Are you telling me the truth? This is legal? Really legal?”
Sonny: “Laura, you know me. I would not lie to you.”
Laura: “Ok. I'm sorry. I had to ask.”
Sonny: “No. I mean, you know, it's your son.”
Laura: “Right.”
Sonny:
“Right.”
Lizzie: {Running down the steps} “Hi. Sorry I’m late. You ready to shop till you drop?”
Nikolas: “Yeah, but the only problem is I have no idea what to get Emily.”
Lizzie: “Oh, are you kidding? The hard part will be keeping it down to one present.”
Nikolas: “Then why should we?”
Lizzie: “Oh, I’ve got a budget, Nikolas. I mean, I’m lucky I can afford one.”
Nikolas: “Well, all right. I'll tell you what -- you find something that you know she'll love, and don't even worry about the cost. I'll pay for it. We'll just -- we'll say it's from the both of us.”
Lizzie: “I don't know.”
Nikolas: “Come on.”
Lizzie: “I kind of feel like I’m taking advantage of you.”
Nikolas: “Taking advantage of me? You'll be helping me. I don't have much experience in picking out gifts for friends.”
Lizzie: “Ok, how about this -- I’ll help you pick something out on your budget, and then we'll just get Emily another present on mine.”
Nikolas: “All right. One condition, though.”
Lizzie: “Ok, what?”
Nikolas: “As soon as we're done, we go to lunch.”
Lizzie: “Hmm -- all right.”
Nikolas: “Ok. Oh, one other thing -- do you -- you like horseback riding?”
Lizzie: “Well, sure. I used to go all the time when I was little.”
Nikolas: “Yeah? You want to go this afternoon?”
Lizzie: “At Wyndemere?”
Nikolas: “Yeah. Sheba's stable mate, she's really gentle. It'll be cool.”
Lizzie: “Well, I don't have school today.”
Nikolas: “Great. Perfect. We'll head over there right after lunch, and you can ride all afternoon. And maybe stay for dinner if you want.”
Lizzie: “Oh. Ok. I get it.”
Nikolas: " ‘Get’ what? What?”
Lizzie: “You're trying to do everything you can to keep me from missing Lucky.”
Nikolas: “Is it working?”
Lizzie: “No. But thanks for trying.”
Nikolas: “It's all right. Any idea when he's coming back?”
Lizzie: “He said a couple days, but it already feels like it's been forever.”
Nikolas: {Sitting on the bench at the docks} “You heard from Lucky?”
Lizzie: “Oh, only about eight times a day.”
Nikolas: “Eight times. Hmm. So your relationship is disproportionate.”
Lizzie: {Laughing} “What does that mean?”
Nikolas: “Well, when you went to Florida, I don't remember you calling him at all.”
Lizzie: “Oh, come on, now. There were no phones, and Lucky knew that.”
Nikolas:
“Well, that don't mean he didn't like it. Poor guy, I feel so terrible
for him.”
Lizzie:
“All right, all right. Enough already. {Nikolas laughs} I don't think
Lucky missed me any more than I miss him -- even with all the phone calls.”
Nikolas: “All right. Thought you were trying to keep busy.”
Lizzie: “It's not working.”
Nikolas: “No?”
Lizzie: “I walk into a room, he's not there, I miss him. I see cheese fries on the menu, I miss him. I hear the doorbell ring, I start to hope it's him even though I know he's away.”
Nikolas: “Well, if you say all that to him, he may never leave town again.”
Lizzie: “The last thing I want to do is stop Lucky from living his life. Especially when he told me the reason why he wants to make this extra money.”
Nikolas: “You want me to ask you what it is?”
Lizzie: {Casually} “If you want.”
Nikolas: “Ok.”
Lizzie:
{Turning to him} “Nikolas, it's for our future -- our future together.”
Nikolas:
“Oh, congratulations.”
Lizzie:
“And I guess that's why, in spite of how much I miss him, having Lucky
go away has kind of been a wonderful thing. I mean, not the fact that we're
separated, because that's just painful. But knowing that there's someone
who's planning our future, someone who can keep me up at night -- I just
keep thinking about the next time I’m going to see him. Oh, it's just --
deep down inside, it's a really amazing feeling.”
