Lucky, Lizzie Emily and Nikolas:
I'll Be With You Forever
scene

{At Lucky's place}

Emily:  {Hugging Lucky} “Oh, it is so good to see you. I was dying listening to Elizabeth complain about how much she missed you. I thought I was going to go crazy.”

Lizzie:  “Oh, come on. I wasn't that bad.”

Emily:  “You're right. You know what? Actually, she didn't miss you at all.”

Lucky:  “That doesn't bother me. I missed her, too. So how did your birthday party turn out?”

Emily:  “Um -- it was fun. Although, I don't think I’m going to have a party next year.”

Lucky:  “Why not?”

Emily:  “Well, because I –“

Lizzie:  “Because there's lots of ways to celebrate, and it's fun to try to them all, right?”

Emily:  “Exactly.”

Lucky:  {There's a knock on the door}  “Come on in.”

Nikolas:  {Opening the door and shaking Lucky's hand} “Welcome back. How was your trip?  {He sees Emily} Hi.”

Emily:  “Hi.”

Nikolas:  “Is anyone hungry? I was thinking we could all go out to dinner -- my treat.”

Lucky:  “Thanks, but Elizabeth and I have plans.”

Nikolas:  “Emily?”

Emily:  “What?”

Nikolas:  “Would you like to have dinner with me?”

Emily:  “Um -- I have homework that I should probably do, and I also have a geometry test in first period, so I should probably just go home and study.”

Nikolas:  “Can I give you a ride?”

Emily:  “You don't have to do that.”

Nikolas:  “Well, I don't mind if you don't mind.”

Emily:  “Ok. I guess it'll save Reginald a ride over here. I'll be downstairs.”

Nikolas:  “All right.”

Lucky:  “See you.”

Nikolas:  “We'll catch up with you later.”

Lucky:  “Ok, cool.”

Lizzie:  “Bye.”

Nikolas:  “See you later.” {They leave}

Lucky:  “Do you mind telling me what I missed?”

Lizzie:  “All I know is that the night of Emily’s birthday party, she was extremely upset and embarrassed. I'm not sure why except that it had something to do with Nikolas.”

Lucky:  “Something he said?”

Lizzie:  “She likes him a lot, Lucky. More than as a friend. And Nikolas doesn't seem to like her that way. So she's upset.”

Lucky:  “I could kind of see that coming.“

Lizzie:  “I know. Me, too. I just hope they can get past it and remain friends.”

Lucky:  “It could be tough.”

Lizzie:  “I know. That's why it's good they kind of got some time to be alone together. Hey, why did you turn down Nikolas' dinner invitation?”

Lucky:  “Because I wanted to eat here with you.”

Lizzie:  “Oh. That's a good reason.”

Lucky:  “In fact, all you have to do is, you know, request a dish and I’m going to make it.” {He puts his hands behind his back}

Lizzie:  “You're going to cook?”

Lucky:  “Up here. {He brings out the menus and starts shuffling them} Pick a menu, any menu. Come on, now.”

Lizzie:  “That is very funny. And the best idea I’ve heard all day. Hey, do you think this is what living together would be like?”

Lucky:  “I guess. I mean, we'd have to eat, right?”

Lizzie:  “Yeah, but before dinner, we'd have our nightly ritual. We'd sit together in our very special place, and we'd tell each other about our days. And then at dinner, we would just pick up from there, and we wouldn't have to, you know, play catch-up.”

Lucky:  “You would tell me all about art school, and I’d tell you about my job. And on the nights where we didn't order in, we'd go out to this little restaurant in the neighborhood where everybody knew us, and the owner would give us seconds on everything.”

Lizzie:  “And then on the weekends, we'd walk through central park, maybe get a movie. And then on the way home, you'd just hold my hand. And even if the streets would be full of people, it'd seem like there was nobody but us. Hmm. Nice fantasy, huh?”

Lucky:  “Who says it has to stay that way?”

Lucky:  {Handing out the food} “I believe you had the Caesar Salad with the Chicken Parmigiana. And I had the bacon cheeseburger with steak fries.”

Lizzie:  “Oh, no cheese fries? Sorry.”

Lucky:  “Here you go.”

Lizzie:  “Thanks.”

Lucky:  “You know earlier, when we were spinning about New York and you said it was a fantasy and I said it didn't have to be?”

Lizzie:  “Yeah.”

Lucky:  “Well, I meant that. See, I had a lot of time to think while I was in Canada. And most of it was about us and just about how much fun we have together. I mean, how comfortable we are with each other, how you make me feel. And I -- I don't see that changing, Elizabeth. I don't. And I don't see myself finding it with anyone else. So all these dreams about the future, all these moments that we want to share, for me, they're real. I’m promising you now, on my life, no matter what, I’ll be with you forever. Do you feel the same way?”
