Quitting because of pressure from Star Awards?

Chen Hanwei: No such thing

Rumour has it that   former TCS artiste, Chen Hanwei quickly announce " quitting at his peak "just " before  'Star Awards' because of stress from it.  Referring to this he emphasised that his going backstage to do designing work has nothing to do with "pressure from ' Star Awards'" at all.

He pointed out that this "Award ceremony" which is always held in July , for unknown reasons  was postponed to October this year . This led to outsiders thinking that there "must be some fishy stuff"  that cause him make this sudden decision.

He said that if this year's 'Star Awards' is held as usual in July, he would definitely take part in this grand event where artistes are judged for their extent of popularity. Besides he is very optimistic about entering the top ten most popular male artistes award. This is because  television series in which  he played leading role are shown in the last few months , ensuring  him of  adequate on- screen exposure.

He felt that getting into the "Top ten" or for that matter the previous "Top five", does not mean that the actor who is number 11 or as previously number 6 isn't a good actor. Because to get this award factors like good timing, place and situation must match -one cannot do without the other.

The day before was former TCS actor,  Chen Hanwei's first visit to Summit Plaza in Batu Pahat. He was also there as judge for "Chen Hanwei's 'Guan Huai Fang Shi' unplugged competition" organised by the Plaza. Before the programme he was interviewed specifically by the press.

He also said that artistes who  do not make it to the "most popular artiste",also sacrifice just as much in their work.

When asked why Lee Ming Shun could win the Best Actor Award within 2 short years of entering this line, Hanwei's immediate response is that " one cannot use number of years of acting to decide whether an actor's acting skills is good or bad."

Looking now from his present changed work status, he did not feel sorry for missing out the 'Star Awards'. Although he won the award in 1995 and could no longer take part in this award at present or in future, he will not "take it to heart" or feel "remorseful".

On that day the many thousands that turned up for  "Chen Hanwei's 'Guan Huai Fang Shi ' unplugged competition " is an even greater confirmation of his popularity.

And looking at the participating teams'  imitation and response to " Hanwei's" style of singing "Guan Huai Fang Shi" is enough  proof  that even though Hanwei has gone backstage he still retain his past supporting "populace". His quitting is really a waste and regrettable!
