Jack & Jennifer Alternate Days Story

Part Six:

(Written by Mystic)

-------------------------------

The kiss is growing more intense, as the passion inside both Jack and Jennifer is heating up. The love felt between them has never been stronger. Jack and Jennifer were engaged now. Regardless of the situation they were living through and regardless of the questionable results the next day would bring, Jack and Jenn were sure about one thing -- they loved one another completely and wanted to make tonight a night to remember.

Still in the dining room, Jack and Jennifer cannot keep their lips off each other. Jack strokes Jenn's hair as they continue to get lost in each other's arms. Finally, Jack gently pulls away long enough to look into Jennifer's eyes. Her eyes are still a little misty from the tears that had fallen a bit earlier. Jack smiles at her. He then reaches for her left hand with her diamond ring on, holds it up for him to admire, and then lays a kiss on top of the ring. Jennifer smiles warmly at him as she savors the moment, taking in every detail. She never wants to forget this night, and she knows she never will. In the background, their song "Unbreak My Heart" is still quietly playing. Jack stands up and reaches his hand out to Jennifer.

"May I have this dance?" he asks her. Jennifer, not saying a word, smiles at him and takes his hand. She stands up and he leads her into the middle of the living room. Jennifer puts her arms around Jack's neck and he, in return, holds Jennifer in his arms... very closely. They sway to the music as they silently take pleasure in holding the other so close. Jennifer hangs onto Jack a little tighter. She never wants to let go. Jennifer rests her head on his shoulder. She had never felt so safe and so loved as she did right then. She lifts her head back up and gently holds up her left hand for her to secretly admire the ring Jack had given her. It was so beautiful. This has been the perfect day. 'I don't think I've ever been as happy with Jack as I have been today,' she thinks to herself. In her mind, she begins to go over the events that took place that day. One moment that stood out in her mind was early that morning when she was laying in bed alone while Jack was in the shower. The reason she loved this little memory was not because she was in bed alone, but because of the fact that Jack walked back into the room with nothing on but a towel. 'I can't believe I was just staring at him like that,' she thinks humorously. The thought of all the naughty things that had entered her mind while seeing that vision causes Jenn to get a little case of the giggles. She lets out a soft laugh. Jack gently pulls Jennifer away and looks at her, smiling.

"What's so funny?" he asks, looking a little clueless.

"Nothing," Jennifer answers with a smile, her eyes twinkling. She lets out another laugh. She throws her hand over her mouth, trying to control herself. Jack starts to laugh too. It was getting contagious.

"Jenn, what is it?!" he asks.

"Nothing!" she says. "..... I was just thinking about what a great day today has been."

"Mm hmm," Jack says, not completely believing her.

"And I was thinking about how special it's been to spend today with you," she continues.

"Uh huh," Jack says. He gives her a look that says, "And... ?"

"And..... I was just thinking about how gorgeous you looked in that towel this morning!" she finally blurts out. She again throws her hand over her mouth, not believing she just admitted that.

Jack, taken by surprise, begins to laugh. He even almost starts to blush. Jennifer, a little embarassed, looks down at the floor and nervously laughs. "I'm sorry," she says. ".....but I guess it's good that you now know some of the things that run through my mind."

"Jennifer," Jack begins. "I'm flattered." He smiles at her. He looks at Jennifer and notices that she's avoiding his eyes. He cups her chin and gently moves up her face so that she is looking straight at him. "You know, if I had to to tell you how many times a day I think about how beautiful you are, we'd be here forever."

"Oh Jack," Jennifer whispers. She leans closer to him and hugs him tight. Jack puts his arms around Jennifer and returns the hug. The song is coming to an end.

Jack pulls away from Jennifer and says, "Would you like some more champagne?"

"I'd love some," Jennifer says with a smile. Jack smiles lovingly at her, holds up her hand to his lips, and lays a kiss on it. Without a word, he turns around and disappears into the kitchen.

Jennifer's smile is plastered on her face as she happily paces around the living room. Everything is so perfect. She holds up her left hand again to see her engagement ring. This ring symbolized a lifetime with Jack. A lifetime of love, caring and committment. Then all of a sudden, thoughts of what tomorrow may bring start flooding into Jennifer's mind. She knows that her future with Jack hinges on what the judge will say as he delivers his verdict. The thought that a promised lifetime with Jack could come to a screeching halt within a matter of seconds disturbs her tremendously. But she is determined to enjoy this night with Jack. She shifts her mind and decides to stop thinking about the future. On second thought, she decides that she does want to think about the future -- but the very near future. Tonight.

Jack appears in the dining room, carrying a new bottle of champagne. "We ran empty of the champagne we were drinking earlier, so I had to get another one in the kitchen," he explains. Jennifer smiles and heads into the dining room. Jack begins to attempt to open up the bottle, but Jenn stops him.

"Jack," she says. "Can I open up the bottle? Don't ask me why. I just want to." Jack smiles at her and says, "Sure." He hands her the bottle of champagne and she begins fiddling with the cork. The bottle is shaking around quite a bit as she is struggling to open it. Finally, the cork is loose and Jennifer begins to pop it out.

"Jenn, wait! I think it's gonna -- " Right then, the champagne comes squirting out of the bottle. Unfortunately, it is pointing right at Jack and he gets covered in champagne. Jennifer quickly puts the cork back in the bottle, frantically trying to stop the outcoming champagne.

"Jack! I'm so sorry!" Jenn says breathlessly. Jack, not mad at all, starts rubbing his face and his suit where the champagne had gone. He looks up at Jenn, soaking, and smiles. "It's okay," he says. "It was just an accident." Jennifer runs into the kitchen and grabs some paper towels. She runs back out and starts helping Jack dry off.

"Uh, Jenn, you know what? This stuff is making me sticky. I think I'm gonna go take a quick shower," Jack says, still trying to dry himself off. Jennifer is still wiping Jack's face. He takes her hands to stop her. "I'm gonna go take a quick shower," he says again, "and I'll be back out here with you before you know it." He smiles at her and gives her a quick kiss on the lips. She tastes the champagne from his lips and smiles.

"Okay, Jack. Again, I am so sorry," she apologizes. "But you know what? I don't think I've ever enjoyed having champagne as I am right now." She leans towards Jack and starts to kiss him. After a little while, she pulls away. "Why don't you go take your shower and I'll start cleaning up." Jack can't see it, but Jennifer has her fingers crossed behind her back. The thought of Jack in a shower was very appealing to her. And while Jack is in that shower, she sure isn't going to be cleaning up.

"Okay," Jack says. "I'll make it fast. I don't want to waste anymore moments with you." Jennifer smiles as Jack gives her another quick kiss. He rushes past her and starts running up the stairs. 'Don't be in such a rush, Jack,' Jenn thinks. 'We won't be apart for very long.'

She makes her way towards the stairs too. She starts climbing up slowly. She finally reaches the top and notices that Jack is already in the bathroom. 'Wow, he wasn't joking. He really is going to make this fast,' she thinks. She quickly walks over to the closed bathroom door and waits outside until she can hear the shower water runing. Finally, she can hear it and waits a little longer to make sure that Jack is inside the shower. She slowly turns the doorknob of the bathroom door and thanks God that it is unlocked. She gently pushes the door open and steam comes rushing out. Quickly, she closes the bathroom door and locks it. She slips out of her dress, ever so quietly, not wanting Jack to know she is there yet. Undressed, she walks closer to the shower curtain and peeks inside.

There is Jack, his back facing her, and he is running his hair underneath the water. Jennifer quietly slips herself inside the shower and closes the curtain after her. Jack still has no idea she is there. She reaches out her hand and gently places it on Jack's shoulder. He turns around quickly, stunned, and looks at Jenn. She stares into Jack's blue eyes -- the eyes she knows. She looks longingly at his face -- the face she loves.

"Jenn!" Jack says, surprised. "What are you doing here?"

Jennifer smiles at the question. "I thought you might like some company," she answers. Jack looks at Jennifer up and down and a grin appears on his face. Jennifer continues smiling at Jack and inches herself a little closer to him. "You don't mind the company, do you?" she asks sweetly.

"No, no. I don't mind at all," Jack says while releasing some of the breath he had been holding in. He is almost speechless. Finally, he says, "You know that I always welcome your company. Especially in places like this."

"Good," Jenn says as she puts her arms around Jack and starts kissing him passionately. He wraps his arms around Jenn and gives in to her completely. There is no holding back, no questions in his mind. He is making it very clear to her that he loves her..... and that he wants her. As the water is beating down on Jack and Jennifer, their kiss is growing more and more intense. Jennifer then pulls away from him. Jack looks at her with a trace of disappointment in his eyes. He didn't want to stop. Jenn smiles reassuringly at him as she reaches past him and picks up a bar of soap.

With the soap in her hand, she slowly begins to rub it on every inch of Jack's body. As she is sliding the bar of soap on his shoulder, Jack does nothing but stare at Jennifer with such passion in his eyes. He says nothing while she works her way all over his body, not missing an inch. Jennifer is in control here, and Jack has no problem with that. He is quiet throughout the whole cleansing ritual, enjoying every second of it. The water coming from the showerhead is now rinsing Jack's body off. Jennifer, satisfied with her work, reaches over Jack again to put the soap back on the rack. But the soap, as slippery as it is, slips out of Jenn's hand and falls to the shower floor.

Jennifer starts to bend over to pick it up but Jack stops her. "I'll get it," he says. He bends over and picks up the fallen soap. It is now his turn to do to Jennifer what she did to him. With the soap in his hand, he gently places it on her body and slowly works his way all over it. Jennifer closes her eyes and feels nothing but passion and desire for Jack. They are both very quiet. No words are necessary. The only sound that can be heard is of the shower water pounding onto the bathtub surface. When Jack is finished using the soap on Jenn, he places it back on the rack. He gently pulls Jennifer a little closer to him so she is more underneath the water now. The shower water rinses off Jenn as Jack watches her.

Jack and Jennifer, still not saying anything, smile at each other. There was no doubt that they were both enjoying this time tremendously. Jack moves closer to Jennifer and kisses her. She puts her arms around Jack again and returns the kiss just as intensely. In their minds, they both knew what was going to happen next. They were going to make love. And no other thought could make them happier. Jack and Jenn's kiss is intensified. The desire factor is raised up ten notches. After awhile, it was hard to tell what was giving off the steam -- the hot water..... or Jack and Jennifer.

a little while later...

Jack and Jenn are still in the bathroom, but out of the tub. Jennifer is standing in a corner of the bathroom waiting for Jack to get a towel for her. He grabs one and walks towards Jenn and wraps it around her. He then takes takes another towel and wraps it around himself. Jennifer looks at him in that towel and is reminded of that morning. She smiles to herself. Jack leans closer to her and gently kisses her on the lips.

"Are you okay?" he asks.

"I'm wonderful," Jenn says smiling. "How are you?"

"I've never felt so clean in my life," Jack says with a grin.

Jennifer laughs. "I know what you mean," she says. She grabs Jack's hands and pulls him closer to her so she can kiss him again. It was her favorite thing to do.

After a few seconds, Jack pulls away and brushes his hand against Jenn's cheek. "You know what?" he says. It's not that late and it's a beautiful night out. Do you want to take a walk with me?"

"I'd love to," answers Jenn without hesitating. She smiles at Jack. "But maybe we should get dressed first," she suggests.

Jack laughs. "Yeah, I think that would be a good idea..... I'll meet you out on the porch in a few minutes, okay?"

"Okay," Jenn says. She gives Jack a quick kiss and then lets herself out of the bathroom. Leaving Jack behind, Jennifer scurries off into her bedroom to get changed. Inside, she switches on the light and heads to her closet. She pulls out a long, casual white dress. It was a nice dress for a warm summer night. She slips into it and quickly tries to dry off her still wet hair. It isn't completely dry but she figures that she's already been taking up too much time so she stops fussing with her hair and leaves her bedroom. In good spirits, she walks down the stairs and notices that Jack isn't in the living room. 'Oh, that's right,' she thinks. 'We're meeting on the porch.' She walks over to the front door and opens it. Out on the porch she finds Jack. He's leaning against a railing, waiting for her. A smile appears on his face at the sight of Jenn. Jack is wearing beige pants and a white shirt, looking fabulous in light colors. Jennifer smiles back, shuts the door and starts to make her way over to Jack.

"Stop right there," Jack says, holding his hands up signaling her to stop.

She stops. "What?" she asks, confused.

After a few moments of staring at her, Jack says, "I just want to have a little time to admire how beautiful you look." He smiles at her with so much love in his eyes.

"Oh, Jack," Jenn says. She walks over to him and kisses him. Even though it hasn't been that long since their last kiss, it already feels like forever. After awhlie, the kiss is interrupted when Jack playfully pokes Jenn, trying to tickle her. Jenn lets out a laugh.

"Jack!" she says, still laughing. Jack laughs too and apologizes.

"Sorry. I'm just in this playful mood right now," he says, grinning.

Jennifer, smiling, says, "No. Don't apologize.... I like it." Jack smiles at her again, but then his face turns more serious. He pulls Jenn closer to him as he begins to kiss her again. Finally, he pulls her away and reaches out his hand.

"Shall we?" he asks.

Jennifer takes Jack's hand. They begin their walk. It is dark outside but, like last night, there is a full moon out again. This provides them enough light. The air is warm and the stars are out. Jennifer lifts up her head to admire all the stars in the sky. Not many words are being exchanged between the two of them. But it was a comfortable silence. Both were enjoying the time being spent with each other. Jennifer, still looking up at the star-filled sky, notices a shooting star. She stops suddenly.

"Jack! Look!" she points up at the sky. "It's a shooting star."

Jack looks up at the sky too and sees it. He looks at Jenn and says, "Make a wish." Jennifer looks at Jack and then closes her eyes. In her mind, she wishes that she and Jack will have a lifetime of nights just like this. After a moment, she opens her eyes and sees Jack smiling gently at her. "Okay," she says. "I've made my wish..... And before you ask me what it is, remember that if I tell you, it might not come true."

Jack understandably nods and says, "I know. But you don't have to tell me what you wished for, Jenn. I think I already know...... And I pray to God that it comes true." Jennifer gently nods her head in agreement. She leans over and hugs Jack tight. She never, ever wants to let go.

a short while later...

Jack and Jenn are still on their walk. They are making small talk with each other. Neither wants to talk about anything heavy right now. They just wish to discuss light things that each could laugh about and enjoy. They reach a small park. It wasn't the same park they had been at earlier in the day. It was different. They come across a swing set. Jennifer turn to Jack and smiles, "Will you swing me?"

Jack laughs and says, "Okay, little girl. I'll swing ya." Jennifer laughs and runs over to an empty swing. Jack, grinning from ear to ear, walks behind Jennifer and begins swinging her. Jenn, having the time of her life, continues to laugh and openly show that she's having a good time. "Higher Jack!" she says. "Higher!" Jack gives Jenn a few more harder pushes before he stands back and admires Jennifer on the swing. Just watching her swinging back and forth looking so happy almost makes Jack's heart aches. Even though neither of them talked about it much that evening, he knew that in the back of his mind that this might be the last night he ever spends with the woman he loves.

"Jack!" Jenn says, her swing losing speed. "Why are you standing over there? Come here!" Jack, determined not to think about the trial tomorrow anymore that night, jogs over to Jenn. He sits down on the empty swing next to hers and waits as Jennifer finally comes to a complete stop. He grabs the chain to her swing and pulls her closer to him. Jenn laughs and puts her hand on Jack's leg when she reaches him.

Jack, a serious look on his face, says, "Jennifer..." Jenn looks at him and waits for him to finish his sentence.

"Yes, Jack?" she says when he doesn't continue.

"Jenn... I don't think I've ever loved you as much as I do right now," he finally says. He caresses the side of her face with his hand and stares lovingly into her eyes. Jennifer reaches for Jack's hand and kisses it. She sees that Jack had temporarily left the lighthearted stuff and had turned more serious.

"Jack," she begins softly. "I love you now more than ever also. In fact, with each passing day my love for you just continues to grow stronger and stronger." Jack starts to get tears in his eyes as he listens to Jenn. He knew what she meant, because it was how he felt too. He pulls the chain to her swing closer again. Close enough for him to kiss her with all the passion he has in him. This night, this hour....... has been perfect so far. later on...

Jack and Jennifer enter their front door as they return from their walk. "Jack," Jenn says. "Thank you for that walk and for that time on the swings. I had a really good time."

Jack smiles warmly at her. "I had a really good time too."

"When can we do it again?" Jenn asks.

The smile on Jack's face disappears. Would there even be another time when they could do it again? "Uh, Jenn...." Jack begins.

Jennifer, sensing what Jack is thinking, interrupts him. "Jack. I know what you're thinking. But please stop. There will be another time for us. There will be another walk for us. There will be another night just like this for us. Believe that," she finishes firmly.

Jack, still doubtful, doesn't want to argue. He slowly nods his head.

"Um...." Jenn starts, wanting to change the subject. "Jack, I really did have the best time with you tonight. It was perfect. I really have never been happier as I am right now."

Grateful the subject had been changed, Jack says, "Jenn, I feel the same way. But the night is still young." He flashes a naughty grin, his blue eyes almost twinkling.

"That's true," Jenn says in agreement. "That is very, very true....." Jack continues to grin at her. "Jack," she continues, wanting to cut to the chase. "Would you accompany me to my bedroom?" She smiles at him with her eyes looking very inviting.

"Well," Jack says. "That's one invitation I can't turn down." He smiles at Jennifer and she returns the smile. "Listen, Jenn. You go on up and I'll see you in your room in a minute, okay?"

Jenn hesitates. "Okay," she finally says. She heads for the stairs and makes her way up them. After a few seconds, Jack also makes his way up the stairs. He heads for his own bedroom. When inside, he flicks on the light switch and heads over to his dresser drawer. He opens it and pulls out an evelope. It wasn't an ordinarly envelope. It was beautifully designed, along with the stationery note that was in it. Earlier that evening before their candlelit dinner, Jack found the time to write this short note to Jenn. It was a pledge from him to her. It illustrated how he felt and it symbolized promises he has made for her. Jack heads for the door, switches off the light switch and heads for Jennifer's room.

Jack reaches the door to her bedroom and quietly knocks on it. He patiently waits outside the door until Jenn finally opens it. When Jack sees Jenn, he is stunned to see her changed into another sexy nightgown. It was different from the night before, but just as beautiful. Jack is so taken by the sight that he accidentally drops the envelope he was holding.

"What's that?" Jenn asks. Jack bends down to pick up the envelope. As he slowly stands back up, his eyes are focused on Jenn the entire time. Her beauty amazes him, and it's obvious.

"Oh!" Jack finally says after he realizes Jenn just asked him a question. "This. This is something for you...." He continues to stare at Jenn. Finally, he tells her that she is the most beautiful sight he has ever seen in his life. Jennifer thanks him and ushers him further into the room. She closes and locks the door behind him.

"So what is it?" Jenn says, curiously looking at the envelope. Jack looks at what's he's holding and looks back up at Jennifer. "This is a little note I wrote to you. I wrote it after I tucked Abby in for bed earlier tonight." He hands it over to Jenn. "For you.... my fiancee." He smiles lovingly at her as she takes the evelope from Jack. Her name is written on the outside of the envelope. She opens it up and pulls out the stationery paper inside. She unfolds it and reads what Jack wrote:

Dear Jennifer,

I pledge to you that I will love you now and forever. Without you, my life is meaningless. I don't know how I'd be able to go on without you by my side. You and Abby mean the world to me. I don't believe that another world can exist for me if the both of you are not in it. Jennifer, I have so much love and so much passion for you. I always have. And I always will. You are my heart. You are my soul. You are my life. If you ever believe anything I say, believe this: I will always love you. I will always cherish you. And I will always fight for us. This is my promise to you. And it comes from my heart.

Love, Jack

Tears begin to well up in Jenn's eyes as she reads this. "Jack," she says softly when she's done. "This is a beautiful thing to say..... Thank you."

"It's the truth, Jenn. Nothing but the truth. I want you to think of this as my pledge to you. I meant every word in it. And I'd die tomorrow if I were to break any promise I made. I love you so much, Jenn. I've loved you before. I love you now. And I will love you forever," Jack finishes. "Like I said in the pledge, if you ever believe anything I say, believe that."

Jennifer cannot control herself now as the tears start rolling down her cheeks. Jack gently smiles at her as he lifts up his hand to her face to brush away the tears.

"Jack, you are my life too. And without you, I don't know what I'd do. And you have done so much for me already, that if you never did anything for me ever again, that would still be enough. I love you too, Jack. I don't know what else to say other than I love you." Jack understands and holds Jenn's face in both his hands. He slowly leans closer and kisses her. Jennifer puts her arms around him and returns her love for him. She stops after awhile.

"Jack," she says. "Wait, there is something else I want to say. Or actually, something I still want you to do."

Jack looks at her curiously.

"I want you to make love to me, Jack," she says. "I want you to make love to me all night long. Just hold me in your arms and, please, don't ever let go." She looks into his eyes, almost shyly, and awaits and answer.

Jack smiles and says, "That's exactly what I planned on doing."

And with that, Jack lifts Jennifer off her feet and carries her over to the bed. He gently lays her down as he puts his arms around her and begins to make love to her, just like she asked. This time was theirs. They were going to make it last. If another shooting star were to pass by, they know that both their wishes would be for time to stand still forever.
