The term "Synthetic Abyss" is applied to a hypothetical bottomless pit created within the mind of every human being. The reasoning behind it varies, but the consequences are usually severe . The abyss in the mind hides what really processes in the psyche. Every little detail of anything that a person wants hidden, every secret that could incriminate, even a hidden lifestyle or character flaw uses an internal abyss as a hiding and/or storage place. This allows the person to wear a false personality while the other festers inside. This place is that little cocoon that we all hide in from time to time; a warm place of security. A potentially soul-swallowing fabrication spawning from our futile desire to control the uncontrolable and undo the irreversable. All things buried in this seemingly bottomless pit may be kept from everyone else, but one only needs to look inside to remember the things they would rather forget. This results in such demons as regret, shame, and guilt. The reminder of the times we have crossed the line, past the point of no return, and had to deal with our actions. Once you cross the event horizon there is no turning back, regardless of how you try.
This is what the Christians refer to as Hell. |
