During a stop for lunch at the half-way point of the Cumbres-Toltec Railway trip, I was able to get this detail shot of the running gear of our locomotive. The link rods, pistons, and flywheels of this mechanical beast of burden have a stark beauty not found in the sleek modern locomotives.
