Friends and acquaintances of Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Armstrong, coming from a wide area, filled the Lion's Den at the local community building to capacity here last Saturday night, to honor two of Steele's early settlers prior to their departure from this community. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong left here last Sunday morning for Rapid City, S. Dak. where they will visit at the home of their daughter. Folks of every walk of life professional men, business men, farmers and laborers -- gathered to extend best wishes to "Rol" and "Amanda" as they are familiarly referred to here. They have a host of friends throughout this territory, which they have made their home since the early Nineties.

A varied program, with Mrs. Arie Smith in charge, was presented prior to the lunch and visiting hour. Comprising the program:
 
Community singing with Mrs. Hazel Madsen at the piano; banjo numbers by F.L. Adams; solo "Forgotten" and "When I Grow Too Old To Dream," by Gottlieb Merkel; musical numbers by the Smokey Mountain Quartette, composed of Lois Nelson, Ruby Merkel, Iris and Verla Smith; intervening talks by Dave Sloss, Gottlieb Merkel, Mrs. Peter Dalenberg and Mrs. Chas. Ruder; group singing of "Auld Lang Syne". Peter Dalenberg, Sr. acted as chairman of the meeting. Mrs. Hazel Maden served as pianist, Miss Lois Smith as song leader. Mrs. Art Yanken, Mrs. E.G. Needham, Mrs. Limm Skherman, Mrs. Albert Reule, Mrs. Harry George, Miss Ione Wentz and Miss Lois Smith.
A purse of silver was presented the honored guests. Out-of-town guests attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kidd, their daughter and son-in-law of Mandan; Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Burton of Bismark; Mr. and Mrs. Finess Powell of Eugene, Oregon; Mrs. Click of Big Timber, Mont., Louie Hanson of Racine, Wisc., all former residents of Steel.
