Been in Australia 33years but still miss my mates back home in Brum. Any ex-pats in Sydney can have the feeling of home on one day of the year, it's the first Sunday in November at the Blacktown Showground, where we put on Britfest, the biggest British g thering in the southern hemisphere, with all things British eg. entertainment, food and the good beers. Our 6th year in 2001. To promote the English in Oz we have decided to celebrate St.Georges Day at Blacktown on the 20th April 2001. Contact us for mor info. The immigration canada answer about costs is deceptive. It costs $975 like the FAQ says PLUS $500 application fee PLUS you have to have medical tests (not covered by Can equivalent of Nat'l health serv if you happen to apply from inside canada as I did) PLUS they fingerprint you PLUS they love to lose files and send them all over the country - t ok me nearly five years during which time I couldn't legally work and was not covered by any health plan more info upon request acrandall@sprint.ca
