Want to make a little money while you are surfing the
net?
Most of these programs put some ads on your screen, but
two of them do not.
Each one works a little differently. Most of these programs work by putting a little window on your screen while you are on the internet and they cut off if you do not move your mouse or change urls every so often. Some work only when you are browsing and others work as long as you are connected to the internet (regardless of what you are doing). The way it works is that companies pay them to feed you advertising.
There were a lot of these programs, but most of them have gone out of business. As of January 2001, the programs mentioned below were still "working". Most of these programs have a referral hierarchy in which you get paid for your own surfing and you get some more for anyone else you get to sign up. Therefore, the sooner you join and get referrals, the better. I recommend signing up for more than one because most of them limit your hours and then, you can start up another one before the month is over.
The links in my paragraphs below (before the table) do not take you to individual websites - they link to my comments in the table underneath the words "Have Fun!". The underlined links in the table take you away from this page to the individual money making websites.
I have been using several of these and have not noticed any huge increase in spam in my email. You can move many of the windows around your screen or minimize them (but then they don't count your time) or turn them off completely. I have recieved money from CashSurfers (works with Internet Explorer) and GetPaid4 and Spedia.
If you would rather not have the extra windows on your screen, try Ignifuge.
Sign up and visit their site or make it your start page. You can
get credit for a maximumof 10 visits per day (they must be at least 10
minutes apart). I haven't received money from them yet :(

CashSurfers. This one runs on a point system. You get points for running the ads on your screen and more points for clicking on ads, using their free email system, using their search link, etc. How much you can earn is unclear to me, but the opportunities look good. It works best with Internet Explorer at this time. CashSurfers |

MoveAbout. Nothing to download: sign in on the website and click to open a small window. You get a perentage of the ad revenue. This used to be called "ClickDough". MoveAbout |

ePIPO. You download a "SurfWindow". I haven't tried this one. This is only set up for Windows users. ePIPO |

GetPaid4. You accumulate time on the internet (not just browsing). You receive a % of the ad revenue (up to 75 hrs/month). You need to click on an ad once in a while to get a certain "click-through percentage" (not high and easy to do). A MAC and webTV version will be coming soon. The "GetPaid4 Bar" is in beta testing now, but they are paying $.48/hr for December. GetPaid4 | ![]() |
Ignifuge. This one works differently. You visit their site and get paid for every ten visits. You are limited to 10 visits each day (10 minutes apart). There is no window to download. They suggest using their page as your start page. I haven't received any money yet from them. Ignifuge |

PayBar. The downloaded bar keeps track of the ads you see. It seems to accumulate money very slowly (I haven't used it enough to get a check). Any browser, but you need IE installed. PayBar |

Spedia. Collect points for surfing the net, playing games, getting emails. Points are converted to cash at the end of each month. (They don't give a specific amount) Their "bar" is ready for download now. Spedia |
