Canada

Canada is probably my favourite country portrayed at World Showcase because it is my home country and because of the wonderful landscaping at this pavilion. There are tons of trees, a waterfall, a creek, a beautiful garden, and even a small scale replica of the Rocky Mountains. The main feature at this pavilion is a 17-minute film called O Canada which is filmed in 360° circlevision. This film shows Canada from coast-to-coast with Canada's wildlife, the covered bridges and sailing ships of the Maritimes, and even the R.C.M.P. make appearances. This film is shown in the small scale replica of the Rocky Mountains. Outside the pavilion there is a walking trail that goes through a forest, past a waterfall and creek, by a rocky canyon and even a mine. Most of the restaurants and shops at this pavilion are located inside the replica of the Château Laurier hotel in Ottawa which I see almost every week. The restaurants and shops sell a wide range of Canadian merchandise and food. Probably the best food at the Canada pavilion is the beaver tail, a flat round pastry topped with cinnamon and sugar, which we eat often here in Ottawa, Canada. Some of the other shops and restaurants at the Canada pavilion include Northwest Mercantile where you can buy sheepskins, lumberjack shirts, maple syrup, moccasins, etc; La Boutique Des Provinces, a shop that has french/Quebec style merchandise; Le Cellier Steakhouse which offers a full range of Canadian food such as prime rib, tourtiéres, and maple syrup pie; and the Refreshment Port, where a variety of drinks and snacks are available.
