The Rose of shires

This county is known as the rose of shires. It lost one of its roses- Princess Diana. I went to sign the book of condolences at the town hall. Someone, there handed me a poem. This tribute shares a poem with all of you written by an unknown author.

Our Greatest Tribute To Diana

 By

Boel Hallpike

The cruel hand of death has struck

But it need not be in vain,

It brings a solemn message

Which, if we'd heed we'd gain:

if from the wreck and wasted lives

We could begin to see

The frailty that is encased

In the flesh of humanity,

Perhaps we would abandon

Our self centred way of thinking,

And Like Diana find great joy,

In helping and giving

Perhaps we would discover

How life at best is fleeting,

And that there's so much more to life

Than grabbing and ill- treating,

When the race of life is ended,

'Tis not our acquisitions

That will stand the test of time,

Nor our mansions and possessions,

That will stir the thoughts sublime,

But the time we spend for others,

And the love that we had shared,

And the selfless deeds of kindness,

That showed how much we cared.

The greatest tribute that we could give

To the Worlds Princess Diana,

Is to change our habits and start to live

As Queen of Hearts forever,

'Tis not in man to change his ways

And when the gloom is o'er.

We could forget and carry on

Just as we did before.

Laws will not change the heart of man,

So let us take time to consider,

And search, and do the best we can,

To find life's only answer.

Then perhaps we'd learn the lesson,

And her death would save us all

From the world that's now our prison,

And give hope to one and all.

sit back, relax and think about the poem in the country corner.
