Day 3
The room was so dark this morning that I had been sleeping and sleeping. Suddenly, I heard some people talking loudly from the hallway in Taiwanese. What the hell! How come they could not lower the voice a b it! It is late night! After a series of cursing, I tried to fall asleep again, but couldn't. So, I picked up my watch to see if it was too early to get up. Oh my God! It was 9am! I had been sleeping in the "funeral house" for a night!
Then, I wa lked to the washroom and did some routine things. The hotel did not provide me breakfast. I only ate the Yamasaki bread from yesterday. The only new thing I tried was a wheat drink. Before drinking, I imagined it was like wheat flavored soya milk. In fact, it was entirely made of wheat, and the texture was quite thick.
Today was hot. However, the sky was not clear. I first went to Xizi Wan Beach. I heard Kaohsiung was famous for sunny shine and beaches. I took bus no.1 to get there. Since Ch ungshan National University administrated the beach, I needed to pass through the school campus. The campus was not too big. I guess about the same size as McGill. One thing interesting is that the entrance of the school is a tunnel. The tunnel was da rk and long. For security reason, the front desk would register everyone passed by the tunnel after a specific time in evening. Suddenly, I felt a bit sick. I really wanted to go toilet! Symptoms of diarrhea were coming! I kept asking myself what caused the symptoms. Did I eat something unclean? Fortunately, I did not feel like to vomit. So, I guessed I did not carry some serious diseases. The only problem was I was walking around, and it was hard to find toilets! Few minutes later, it got better. So, I took a ferry heading to the Kaohsiung lighthouse. The lighthouse was built on the top of a hill. When I reached to the bottom of the hill, I could not walk up anymore. I really needed to go washroom. Therefore, I walked back to the ferry terminal immediately. After that, I did not want to go to the lighthouse because I lost too much water that day. So, I decided to go department stores. The department stores were not impressing. Again, diarrhea came while I was walking around. Luckily, I was in a nice department that provided clean washrooms. The rest of the afternoon was hot and boring. I decided to go back to hotel to watch films. Meanwhile, diarrhea seemed had gone. I guess the high fiber wheat drink contributed most to the diarrhea because I have a history of having diarrhea after taking high fiber food. So, I did not worry about the cleanness of the night market food. At night, I went to Liu He night market again. I ate spicy mutton (Sa Cha yang rou fan) and stewed roasted pork rice (Lu rou fan) as dinner. Both tasted good! Dessert was peanut ice cream bar.
Tomorrow will be the last day in Kaohsiung. But I can' t really think of what to do! Perhaps, I should go to Sogo again to buy the NT 79 Converse shoes. Or, shall I go the lighthouse again?
