This photo shows the use of the amauti, the parka used for carrying infants and toddlers. The child sits in the back of the parka, warm and cosy next to their mother, and the large hood can be used when needed, going over both of their heads. When the hood is up, the child can look out over her/his mother's shoulder.
Often you'll see the amauti used in Inuit sculptures --- it's a good way to tell the male figures from the females.
