The modern plow looks like this.  I wouldn't even pretend to know how to start this thing.  It certainly has helped farmers save time and money in preparing the paddy fields for planting.  It has replaced the buffalo and the wooden-handled plow.  But note the design of this 'steel buffalo' as it is known in rural Thailand - the similarity to the rig pulled by buffalo is uncanny.  Heck even the cables running to the engine resemble the reigns and tethers used for the buffalo.  The handles of the machine are not at all unlike that of the wooden-handled plow.  The new has a lot to learn from the old.  This needs to be kept in mind all the time.

There is reason in the ancient rural rhyme!
