Getting to Amelia Island.

From I-95 take the 2nd exit (going south) or next to last exit (going north),
A1A/SR200, and head east!
Cross the Intercoastal waterway (about 15 miles) and you're in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island. An island, 14 miles long and 5 miles wide, Amelia Island's city and postal office is Fernandina Beach.
The city offers the splendor of historic downtown, ocean front resort properties, and "neighborhoods." No place on the island is more than ten minutes from the beach.
The county portion of Amelia Island is comprised of residential neighborhoods, shopping, and the planned communities, Amelia Island Plantation and Summer Beach.

Amelia Island is Florida's first island and first beach. Located just 30 minutes from Jacksonville International Airport, Amelia can also be reached by plane via our own regional airport.
Fernandina can also be directly accessed by water. Our marinas--all on the intercoastal waterway--handle boats of any size.
Fort Clinch State Park on the north end of the island provides a huge expanse of natural vegetation along with "encampments" by soldier volunteers on most weekends.

Amelia Island recently hosted President Bill Clinton's meeting at the Ritz Carlton. While he's our most publicized guest, he's probably not our most famous! And, you don't have to be famous to enjoy Amelia Island. We have reasonably priced ocean front lodging and very inexpensive places to stay within walking distance of our beaches. Nassau County provides the finest and most accessible beachfront anywhere on the east coast.
