Blade trilled in her master’s ear as the man worked diligently on his riding straps. The little marble green had not left his side since the Weyrling Master had assigned the task earlier that day. He looked at the figures on the slate that he, like the rest of the Weyrlings in his class had been given. Seems right on, he thought as he turned his attention to his own work, They’ve seemed to change the style a bit since my time, he continued on as he thought of what his brothers’ riding straps had looked like.

came the comment of his blue winged white dragon as he sunned outside the weyrling barracks. Gr’ant smiled and adjusted the furs that he had wrapped around his body to keep him warm in the cold climate that was Dragonhope Weyr. You’re right there, Garretth. Twenty five hundred turns have passed since I left Bigahomla Hold for Seiryuu Weyr and then Seiryuu for here… though to me it’s only been a little over a turn and a quarter. Things are bound to change. You’re bigger than most whites in my time. I am one of the biggest of my siblings.
“That you are, my friend,” Gr’ant chuckled and then looked at his straps critically, “It takes so long to do these. I need to get it finished before I go to the ice to practice. Wonder what W’sler has to do still before he can give me a moving target to get around.” He and Deanoth have classes until just before dinner. I don’t think you’ll be having somebody to practice with till then.
“Not even Grezka or P’tarik?” Gr’ant raised an eyebrow pausing in his work. There was a moment before Garretth answered, Kesshotenth’s rider is getting extra training to prepare her for Weyrwomen duties… and Sigwarth’s rider has extra chores to do.
“What, did Sigwarth get him in trouble again?” He refuses to answer that, the blue winged white replied with a chuckle.
