Jilly burst from her stone sleep to see the sunset over Camelot, she sighed as she saw no sun. She was always so close with this sunset. Perhaps if she glided towards where the west she might be able to catch the sun behind the hills. With a snap of her wings she leapt into the air. “Jilly!” a few voices called behind her. She turned to find Aisugriff at her side but as she looked beyond to the castle parapets she found the Camelot Clan standing there watching in worried awe. Just as Jilly was starting to consider going back to them her view was engulfed in flames. The Phoenix Gates! Jilly thought. She appeared once again, this time with her new clan just after the sun had set. She once again looked for the sun on this different time but nothing was there. Once again she gazed at the sunset, a silvery cloud drifted calmly through the sky. Pretty! Jilly smiled. The clan gathered about her and once more the Phoenix Flames surrounded her. Moments later to Jilly, though it was obviously many, many years later to the world around her, the clan was deposited in a new world. Pern, Jilly thought though she shouldn’t have known the name at all at that age. She looked up once more and saw the sunset that was not supposed to be there. Once again she saw the silver cloud, it was growing in size and seemed to be growing what looked like appendages. “Jilly!!!” Startled the hatchling looked up again to see Aisugriff and the rest of the clan charging towards her. A blinding flash caused her to close her eyes and loose sight of her friends and new family only to be returned to a time ealier than the incident. Before her stood her new guardian. “Hasalenn,” Jilly blinked and a chirp came from her side. She looked to find the frosted winged aqua fire lizard. “Seafrost.” She replied softly to the fire lizard. I’m getting tired of waiting, sighed a voice. For the first time Jilly realized she was her proper age again… and there was a cooler air on her skin. Depsite the cooler air she felt as if something warm was wrapping about her soul. “Waiting for what?” Jilly asked aloud as Seafrost took to flight. Something told Jilly to once again look to the sky. There in the sky was the cloud once more in front of the sunset. It had formed something that resembled a dragon. Jilly looked awed at the feature on the sky. A silvery dragon with sunset wings. Just looking at the sunset now caused her to feel warmed and loved. I wait for you, Jilly. the voice said as the scene changed to Ryslen Weyr and the clan stood upon the parapets of the Weyr. Jilly walked into the hatching ground and smiled at the eggs. The egg before her shook.
“Konjakuth? I dreamed…” the adolescent gargoyle blinked and then smiled happily. So gargoyles can impress dragons. As they should, my rider, Konjakuth replied surely to her rider. Jilly knelt down and hugged the sunset-winged dragon. I’m hungry, Jill. You and me both, my dear, Jilly chuckled as she got up to lead her lifemate to the food Ryslen had provided for the newly hatched dragons. As they found a place to sit Jilly rolled her dragon’s name around. Konjaku sounded like a word she’d heard of long ago. “JILLY!” a voice shouted and the powder blue gargoyle winced thinking that she might still be in a dream. She waited for the flames to come around her again yet found none. Looking towards the voice she found her cousin, beaming like a proud mother hen. “We tried to get to the sands as quickly as possible when we found every none gargoyle was already there for the hatching,” Aisugriff almost whooped as she rushed her cousin into a bear hug. Jilly giggled like a hatchling herself while Konjakuth watched her rider, bemused with the situation. She was startled at how fast Aisugriff put down her rider and was up close to her; Aisugriff had been one of the gargoyles who had come to a liking of dragons quickly after arriving at the Weyr. “So what gender is it? What’s its name? Its quite pretty… or should I be saying its handsome?” Aisugriff rattled off as the rest of the clan silently arrived knowing that to some in the Weyr, such as Hasalenn’s half brother J’lenn, their presence was unwanted. Jilly giggled at her cousin. If she really wants to know I’m quite hungry, thank you very much, the hatchling quipped. Jilly quickly started to feed her dragon, rubbing the silver when ever she was not offering the hatchling food.
“There’s enough of me to go around,” Jilly grinned her eyes darted to some unwanted affection from a fellow gargoyle. “KRAG!” she growled; Jilly had not meant to include this alternate interpretation.
