“No,” Katzy denied aloud despite the fact that she knew Balaroth would know she lied. You wish I was green at times, don’t you? Never…! Well maybe some times but no, I’d have you no other way. I love you for who you are… I’m just kicking myself for showing Cr’tomin my feelings for him and then not being able to be with him because our dragons are the same gender. Who says you can’t be with him even though he has Gintath? There are riders who have mates that don’t even have dragons and their dragons still mate with other dragons… their riders just go to their mates during the flights instead of the other rider. Maybe… but who’s ever heard of a blue rider and a bronze rider getting together? Balaroth didn’t respond. They’d had this conversation ten times over and never could figure out the solution to Katzy’s problem. The day of the incident Katzy had figured Cr’tomin, at the time called Cravatomin, was going to impress something male, and her feelings told her more likely than not a bronze. She’d been right as she found Gintath strutting arrogantly up to the man she’d found she’d had feelings for. She could see from that impression that the duo would be quite opposites, she also saw that she could never be with him because of the bronze. Shortly before the hatching was over she left, too embarrassed to explain herself to Cr’tomin as to why she had kissed him. For a number of days afterwards Cr’tomin wrote to her sending his letters through his bronze fire lizard, Zatmon. Katzy had taken the letters but never wrote back. She’d hardly been able to read most of the letters, each one Cr’tomin seemed confused by her actions. Soon the letters started to dwindle until two months after the hatching there were no more. Every so often Katzy would hear something about Moon Shadow Weyr, rarely would it be about any of the currently Weyrling Class. Once she had heard something about Cr’tomin and Gintath but that was only because of the bronze’s size.
“You did not!” Katzy hissed pulling the blue fire lizard off her shoulder to look him in the eye. I’d say it looks like he did, Balaroth commented as he examined the image with some prompting from both himself and Katzy to see the image again. The image was of a young, tall, well built man with auburn hair and stormy honey colored eyes. “What were you doing at Moon Shadow?” Katzy question the blue flit. Squan chirped questionably and produced an image of a bronze flit. Zatmon? Seems like it, my heart, Katzy replied to her dragon and then eyed the fire lizard, “Did Cr’tomin recognize you?” Squan continued to show pictures of Zatmon and other fire lizards he had run into on his trip. Seems he doesn’t know if you ask me, Balaroth commented with a rumble, Would it be so bad if he did recognize Squan? He might start writing again. I state again, would that be such a bad thing? Katzy frowned and walked out to her Balaroth. She thoughtfully patted his warm hide and headed towards the weyrledge. Squan, finally finding himself free of his owner’s accusing grasp, crawled back up to the girl’s shoulder. “I have to admit, I wouldn’t mind hearing from him once and a while,” Katzy sign, “I’d just feel bad for not writing things back.” Well then you could write him back. You always wrote him back when he was a candidate, Balaroth pointed out before walking over and laying down next to his rider lightly wrapping his tail around her. Katzy didn’t respond, instead she watched the other dragons in the Weyrbowl. “Would he even reply to me since I ignored him for so long?” Katzy asked aloud after a few minutes of silence. Balaroth gave her a small dragonic smile and placed his muzzle directly into her chest. If you don’t write you will never know then will you? Katzy glared at her blue’s reasoning but stroked his jaw thoughtfully. Squan softly nuzzled the blue rider’s cheek before gliding off into the weyr. A minute later he came back to his mistress toting a piece of hide and a charcoal stick. The silent blue landed on her shoulder once more, getting charcoal marking on her shirt. Katzy scowled at both blues yet was still grateful to them. “Conspiring against me?” She asked as she sat down and took the hide and charcoal stick from the fire lizard.
