“What is it this time, Lyruth?” M’rec yawned at the same time as trying not to chuckle. If he didn’t know any better the twenty turn old man would have thought his red dragon to be truly a bronze instead. That bronze stole the meal I was about to hunt and take for myself. “And when did you call your rights for it, my friend,” M’rec asked rolling his eyes though other wise looking very serious. I claimed it right before his claws touched it. Lyruth! You can’t claim something seconds before another is going to kill a meal it just can’t be done! It’s not proper either. Rysenth listened to me when I told her. That’s because that proddy green was playing with their minds like she played with the runners I road turns before you impressed to me. The red weyrling snorted at his lifemate understanding the difference but not wanting to admit to it. Instead, the brown sized red took to the air and circled the feeding pens looking for a proper meal or five. Hah! I win! M’rec jokingly gloated to his dragon as his blue fire lizard alighted on his shoulder. Hey, I’m the only one aloud to be cocking in this relationship remember? the red commented before swooping down to tackle a large buck while his tail struck and unsuspecting wherry-cock. Taking an animal in each claw, the arrogant red glided back over to his starting spot and gorged himself on the energy giving meat. “You’re reckless sometimes, you know that beloved?” M’rec asked ruefully running his hand through his shoulder length slightly wild hair. And your point is, rider mine? That your risks might get us scored or worse when we really fly Thread, my friend. It’ll never happen, I’m just showing a few of the females how to really get your meals worth and quickly Oh, playing let’s flirt today are we? The red didn’t reply but looked on at the females, a few which were glowing being close to their next, and in some cases first, flight. The red’s head was turned slightly to the side but a cocky look was evident in his rainbow eyes. To his annoyance the females turned away. Below the red, his rider chuckled at being shot down. Crash and burn, boy! Crash and shardin’ burned. And you can do better? I’ve only seen you get one girl’s attention and that’s Yui. Hey, that’s because I don’t try and Yui’s my friend. I respect the female species and don’t look at them as another good hunt… unlike you seem to do my friend. I do not hunt them! Oh give it up Lyruth, you’re full of hot air and you know it. You watch the female daily and try to find a new way to get them to notice you. You’re using the wrong bait to catch a tunnel snake, Lyruth. I’m not trying to catch a tunnel snake! It’s an expression, my heart. The red grunted at his rider as he finished his two catches and went for a nother few. It was the red’s way of saying “I don’t want to talk about it any more!” but M’rec knew better. “Have it your way, Lyruth,” M’rec replied to his forever friend, “Don’t listen to my words. When flights come you’ll more than likely lose or if you do catch a female they’ll probably hate your guts even after the flight’s over with.” It will never happen! the red snorted at his rider. M’rec smirked as he replied smugly to his dragon, prodding him as he had learned to do since encountering Lyruth’s cocky attitude, That’s what all the future flight losers say when they aren’t allowed to fly females yet. YOU TAKE THAT BACK! Learn to treat females better and maybe I will. The red growled down at his rider from his perch, his food forgotten for the moment. M’rec looked back up at the red with just as dangerous a glare. The weyrling red finally shook his head and went back to eating saying nothing though M’rec was pretty sure he’d won. Only time would tell as the day that they would graduate from being Sr. Weyrlings to being officially riders of a wing. And he was already scheduled to be transferred to another Weyr, Seiryuu Weyr. True the Weyr was not officially open yet but they would be there the day of the opening. Neither dragon nor rider could wait for that day; How often was it that a person could go to the open of a Weyr and be one of the first to live there? But first thing was first, to make it through Weyrling Training!
