Entry 1:
Kare and Oroth woke from their usual midday nap. While the young rider tried to right her brown hair so it wasn't in her face her dragon gave a roaring yawn, her eyes whirling blue with little red flecks in her eyes. Both stretched elaborately on the ledge of their weyr knowing full well that they were the subject of attention from the male dragons and their riders, just as Nira and her green Cylith, Adrienne and her gold Lelianth, and Quachir and her gold Mekoth were being watched. Oroth finished her stretching yet still showed off as she looked over the edge of her ledge to the dragons bellow. There sure are a lot of males down there, Kare, Oroth commented as she flexed her wings catching the whirling eyes of nearly every male dragon in the weyr other than the bronzes. Kare chuckled at this gentle getting her swim clothes on before walking up to her dragon's neck and leaning on into her showing off her curves. A soft whistle was heard from below and Kare chuckled. "Shall we go give you your bath now, love?" Kare asked her white craftily. Her dragon merely cooed and grinned. The girl quickly vaulted the short, compared to other colors of dragons, distance to her large white's neck not bothering to put a saddle on her weyrmate. Oroth rocked back on her haunches and launched into the air. Kare's knee's held herself in place unconsciously from turns of working with runnerbeasts. The green-gray eyed girl raises her hands to the heavens in the joy of flying. The flight was over too soon for both dragon and rider but the cool water of the Weyr Lake was calling them in the hot mid-day sun. Kare had rode Oroth into the water before her bronze fire lizard Conrim appeared from between scolding her from leaving him behind. The girl giggled and plucked her bronze flit from the air and gave him a kiss on the nose. The large bronze chirped happily and she threw him back up in the air gentle. He flew three circles around his mistress before landing on Oroth to scrub the white. We have company, Oroth told her rider happily moments later. Kare looked up to find two riders, one with a blue and the other with a brown. A slight tinge of blush flushed over Kare's features as she found the riders were in their own swim wear, but by the way the looked they had been there for a while, as if waiting for herself and Oroth to come down for their daily bath in the weyr lake. By quicker observation both dragon and rider grinned as they found they were the two pairings that had signed up first on their flight list: Blue Cotulth and Brown Cortunath. Oroth had already talked with both dragons while Kare had flirted seductively with F'ta and Z'niel. Today they most likely wouldn't talk to either pairing, but would do their usual showy display of their flirtatious ways. Oroth gave a bulge and instantly twenty fire lizards were around her happily chirping and starting to scrub her. She raised her wings high above the water and wide open so the fire lizards could work on her with more ease. She pretended not to see the two dragons start to walk into the clear water and suddenly stopped chest deep to look at each other. A bold warning, dragon like, bark was issued by Cotulth towards his rival. The brown merely looked down his muzzle at the smaller dragon and snorted. Oroth warble teasingly at the two though she never looked at them. On the other hand, Kare was scrubbing her dragon diligently, or as diligently as one could who was more trying to catch the attention of the two riders in the shallows than wash her dragon. In the end she dove into the water as smoothly as a dolphin and came up by her white's neck. She stayed there for a while looking as if she'd fallen asleep with her arm around her dragon, but Oroth knew better. Kare was watching the approach of the dragons and their riders through her large white's eyes. Just a little bit more, the girl though, NOW! Kare knowing her dragon was well scrubbed now brought herself back up on her dragon's neck quickly. Oroth leapt into the air and flew back to their weyr with a mischievous backwards look at the two suitors. No words were exchanged between the duo until after they landed. That was fun, only another dragons length and they would have been right next to me, Oroth cooed, What's next? "Oil, Ro," Kare grinned. Oil, hey, can we do us both? "Ro!" the girl chided with a deep blush, "I'd burn more than I'm blushing now. Besides I want to ruffle the boy's feathers as much as you want to ruffle the male's wings but not by oil, that's way too cruel... thought it was a funny idea." "Couldn't say she didn't try," a voice came from her room. Kare looked up and tried to see who it was but no one was there. "Ro?" she asked her white. I did not see the speaker either, and it was too brief to tell you if the speaker were male or female or even a rider. Kare frowned at this but in the end shrugged, she'd find out soon enough. Entry 2: Kare realized that they had timed it by accident when they popped out over the field just outside of Talor Cliff Weyr. It had been a few days sense her big white, Oroth, had eaten and timing it had caused the white to go an odd shade of gray. You better eat now, Ro, you look like you haven't eaten in over a sevenday or more. I feel like I haven't eaten in a sevenday, Kare. Can I kill a few of the herdbeast out here? "Don't see why not, Love," Kare replied looking down at the herdbeast who were scattering to two other dragons bellow, "The white and the blue down there are at it so why not you?" Oroth seemed to just notice the male and trumpeted catching their attention. That is white Uloreth and blue Mnemuth down there! "Don't tell me you just challenged them as if you were going to fly this moment," the green-gray eyed girl asked in mock horror. Oroth only grinned. Upon landing Kare quickly cut of her brightly colored white's masquerade by hugging Oroth's muzzle and giving her a good rub. Oroth gave warble of delight but hunger quickly over took her. Her eyes turning a slight red she leapt at one of the herdbeast and quickly devoured it before going on to another, eating this one more slowly. Both dragon and rider knew that all eyes were on them: humans for human and dragons for dragon. Kare smiled sweetly at the men watching her and then waved a hello. They seemed to take this as an invite to talk to her and started to walk over. Normally, Kare wasn't much for talking except in the dinning area of the weyr or with other female rider of female dragons, she thought this was the best way to keep Oroth and herself neutral before their flight. At this time though Kare already had a bit of interest in one of the riders, mainly from what he'd gone through already with his dragon and her dragon doing her usual flirt. Taking on a sweet expression she showed no real attachment to either of the young men. Like her dragon, she'd never unfold whom she favored till the last moment. "So how's your day going?" she asked in her deadpan voice though it seemed to attract them even more. And so the girl conversed with the two young men, as per her now usual she unconsciously flirts and moves in seductive ways. The only thing she did knowingly was let the wind play with her brown hair. Oroth, on the other hand, is still at her showy displays and has some how managed to not let any blood stain her glowing white hide. So they think they can catch me? she said to herself though she knew the blue and white could hear her quite clearly. She held her large wings out wide and grinned. She slowly started to flap them and flex them, as if she were a hatchling again and testing her wings. With a sideways glance at the remains of her last kill she suddenly leapt the distance to her rider only flapping her wings thrice in the distance. With a playful scream from her rider, she picked up Kare and carried her in her claws to the Weyr Lake. You startled me there for a second, Ro! Sorry, I just had to do it. For the rest of that after noon, Kare and her bronze flit, Conrim, washed the large white though it was obvious to all it was another flirtatious act. Entry 3: Kare looked at the list of names under her Oroth's on the flight board. Next to her stood her friend Tiff Prisim, green Vasharath's rider. "Looks like the two of you rounded up two more males," Tiff mumbled as she looked over the list. Kare merely nodded. The green rider looked at the two new blues who had been added only the other day. Her figure stopped at the name of the last blue on the list. The 20 turn old former Harper turned to her young friend, "Isn't blue Nenverth ridden by M'ranu?" Kare blinked and looked at her friend curiously, "Yeah, why'd'ja ask?" "Why else would I ask?" Tiff asked in shock, "Have you seen that boy?!?! By the egg of my Vasharath, he's one of the most handsome blue riders at Talor Cliff Weyr! You're lucky to have him trying for Oroth!" "So I'm told," Kare smirked and then narrowed her eyes, "You know he's a turn younger than you?" "So! My parents were ten turns apart when they had me and my mom was the older of them," the green rider argued. "That's not sayin' much considering they broke up without being married when you were still a toddler," Kare told her logically. The white rider then tilted her head at her friend, "Vash is getting more proddy isn't she?" Tiff nodded rapidly, her red Ruathan hair flying everywhere including over her dark Istan skin. "Tell ya' what, if Nenverth doesn't fly Oroth I'll inform M'ranu of your interest." "D'konu, blue Telervith's rider too?" Tiff said hopefully. Kare looked at the green rider in disbelief and glared at her, "What if one of them catches my Ro?" "I'll be glade to have any of the riders who are after you if they don't fly Ro," she said with starry eyes. "By the first shell, are you well, Tiff?" Kare asked as she checked the taller woman's forehead for any signs of heat, "You never speak this way of men. Vash's proddiness must really be getting to you." Again the green rider nodded rapidly. The white rider chuckled, "Maybe you should talk to M'leor and get Vasharath up on that board." "After Ro flies, Kare," Tiff replied in a nervous way, the green rider looked around before continuing her statement in a whisper, "That way I am sure to get the ones who wanted you in my flight!" Kare shook her head in defeat. "If you say so," Kare snickered, "Let's get somethin' ta eat, I'm starved." The two walked off, Tiff obviously paranoid about the cute riders Kare had in her flight and Kare planning her next flirt which she would latter tell her lifemate when she was actually awake. Entry 4: Kare watched as a brightly glowing gold dove down and gorged herself on her third herdbeast. Next to the queen was Kare's large, glowing, white, Oroth. An amused chuckle came up from the slightly younger girl next to her, though she had been a rider a few months longer than Kare. "They may not be from the same clutch, but Oroth and Mekoth sure act like they are, don't they," the obviously Istan bred girl smiled. Kare nodded with her own chuckle. "So they seem, Chir," she replied flipping some of her shoulder length brown hair out of her green-gray eyes. The gold rider smiled and invited the white rider to join her. "So I hear that you have another two after your Oroth," Quachir smiled, Kare raised an eyebrow. Without the old girl saying a word, Chir chuckled, "Remember, I hear all dragons... that and Mekoth doesn't quite under stand, make that doesn't want to believe that a white could have more suitors than herself." Kare laughed in a musical way, "So your Mekoth is a bit jealous of Ro having more suitors than herself" "Yep," Chir replied pulling out one of her decks of Dragon Poker Cards, "Seems some how silly, I know but that's Mekoth for ya'. I just hope she doesn't start having a dislike of white female dragons as well now. It's enough that she trumpets at every green who comes near her males, other than Vasharath." I would never start to hate white females, there are less of them than golds so they are not much competition. Kare chuckled again. "Your gold is real trouble, ya' know that?" the white rider asked. "Yep," Chir replied exasperated and shuffled her cards. Kare looked at her friend quizzically. "You expectin' somebody?" Kare asked then grinned, "Or ya' planin' on takin' me on." "The former," the Istan replied in her cheery, yet commanding voice, "I figured out why I play it so much now a days. It's sort of a way to keep myself from choosing one of the riders before Mekoth's flight. I want her to be the one to choose. After having watched X'tro since we were kids, I some how developed a knack for winning the game with ease. So the men have a bit of a time when around me. It also helps in the fact that it's becoming harder to keep Mekoth's proddiness out of my personality..." "And you're afraid you're starting to like it, eh?" Kare spoke what she believed her friend left out. Chir only looked down and blushed. Kare chuckled, "I think there are some riders of female dragons who like it too. I never really fought it." "Yeah, but you've had an easier time making friends with people so you don't have to worry about that," Chir replied in all seriousness, "I on the other hand, have struggled my whole life to make a hand full of friends." "You've got more than that now," Kare smirked as her green eyes indicated that they had visitors. Chir turned and indeed there were visitors coming their way, not all of them to see her, but six of them, her suitors, were. The other eight were undoubtedly the riders of Oroth's suitors. Slowly a smirk came to her features and as she turned to her friend, Kare could easily tell that Mekoth's proddiness was getting to her again. That and both Oroth and Mekoth had seen the approaching riders. The two dragons and looked to the sky, as they had hopped, 14 males were making their way down towards them. Kare looked back to Chir and both girls smirked. "Care for a game of Dragon Poker, boys?" they called out in a singsong way, a secretive wink pacing between the two innocent looking girls. As the young men made their way over Chir continued on their conversation about flights. "So, you've got one half of the harper duo and I have the other?" she smiled. "You're talking about G'tat, brown Omarath's rider and D'gar, bronze Bevometh's rider aren't you," Kare more stated than asked, "Yeah, G'tat's brown Omarath was signed up just the day after V'nor signed up his blue Sovreth." "Oh, if I were a gossiper of things that dragons' say to or about their riders," Chir chuckled, "But I'll save that rider from a blushing." "You acussin' me of perhaps mentioning what was said in person?" Kare asked with a wicked grin. The two girls had little more time for their flight talks as they were surrounded by their conversation pieces. The two dragons were as well, but of course were a bit more openly flirtatious. Entry 5: Kare sat watching Oroth dive on another buck in the hunting grounds. She'd been partying with her friends that day in celebration of Quachir's 15th birthday, but when Chir challenged her suitors to a couple of hands of dragon poker she left. Not just because she was starting to get a bit board with them all loosing to Chir but also because Oroth wanted to eat. Kare sighed, it had been a bit since Mekoth had pretended to call out a challenge to the males of the weyr. Why do you think of Mekoth at this time? She would never hurt me, Oroth asked her rider while thoughtfully chewing on a chunk of her latest kill. We hardly ever know if she's tell the truth in her challenges or just bluffing. One day it will be real and we won't know it 'till it might be too late. Oroth seemed to nodded in understanding. Suddenly her head swiveled towards the weyr lake, her green-blue eyes tossed the specks of red proddiness wildly about her eyes. Coltuth comes with his rider! she told her rider excitably before bulging flirtatiously at the blue in the sky. Kare chuckled as the blue seemed to be surprised for a moment then bulged back at the white. He says it's a nice surprise to see me here when he's about to hunt. He just bathed, I can tell, Oroth told her lifemate smugly. Kare chuckled, she had no doubt that her fairly large white could tell such a thing. Smiling up at the blue and his rider as they glided in she waved a hello. Both white and rider walked over to meet the pair when Oroth stopped in mid-stride almost looking like she was showing off her body again. "Silly, R...," Kare began when she was interrupted by Oroth's words. You sure. And at such a time, I was going to talk to Coltuth... Alright, we'll go in a moment. "What is it, Ro?" Kare asked to the startlement of F'ta and blue Coltuth. Vasharath says that Mekoth will rise in minutes. I feel it too, her mind is chaos waiting to be realized. "Is she sure?" Kare asked worriedly. Vasharath is the only dragon who has not been fooled in previous challenges, she knows. Kare winced and mounted up look towards F'ta with an apologetic grim smile, "Words going 'round Mekoth's going to fly now, we need to get out of here before she decides Oroth's a threat. We'll talk with you later?" F'ta nodded and Kare gave a cheeky wink before giving Oroth the command to fly. They were at the proper height to go between when Sr. Queen Naomith bulged before going between. Oroth's eyes whirled yellow in fright as they suddenly heard the challenge of Mekoth even at their height. Go between now, Ro! Kare yelled mentally and they went between ending up oddly in the Sapphire Weyr area. We'll be safe here, I'm going to land near the forest, Oroth told her rider. Only minutes after they had landed, a blue dragon popped out of between not far from where they had done the same. Kare watched expecting the blue to glide towards Sapphire Weyr but instead watched as it hovered in the air. The blue's head turned about looking at the ground. He suddenly gave a happy warble and started to glide towards them. Who is that, love? It's V'nor and Sovreth... Sovreth took a peek through my eyes to see where we went, Oroth snorted yet continued to look on at the handsome blue. As the duo landed Kare walked up with Oroth in close pursuit. "Aren't you missing the betting for Mekoth's flight?" Kare asked, her green eyes looking over the 17 turn old rider before her in a flirtatious teasing manner. She grinned as he became a bit unconvertible. "I made my bet and left when Mekoth disappeared from sight minutes later," V'nor told her, "Sovreth was the one with the idea to see how you two were doing." For a moment this seemed to disappoint Kare; Sovreth was the only one who was worried about her and Oroth's safety. The blue snorted and seemed to say something to his rider causing him to grumble and if Kare wasn't mistaken a slight tinge of blush appeared over the bridge of his nose. Kare chuckled mentally at this. "What was that about?" she asked. "Nothing really," V'nor replied a bit sheepishly. This must be the one Chir wouldn't tell me what he and his dragon had had a conversation about the likes of us, she thought referring to her lifemate as well. "Well it had to be something for you to sputter back at him," Kare smiled, "No matter. Mekoth's flight might take a while, I think I'll see if Sapphire would allow me to get a snack. Care to join us?" she asked. He looked somewhat startled by the question and looked at his Sovreth with wide eyes. "Well," he started as Sovreth nodded vigorously and cooed at the same time, and the blue rider turned back to smile at the white rider with warm brown eyes, "we'd be honored." Kare smiled and mounted up once again. An evil grin appeared on her features, "Race ya' there!" With those words she commanded Oroth to fly towards Sapphire Weyr with all speed yet not full out. Moments later Sovreth was following them. Kare laughed as the blue's head neared Oroth's tail, lifting her arms high in the air in her igzilerance. Considering she wasn't wearing her helmet for the straight flight her hair whipped about playfully in the wind. What a joy to fly free and with another dragon chasing her. She knew it would be nothing compared to the experience of Oroth's first flight but it was still a beautiful feeling. They landed not too long afterwards and were greeted by the young weyrwoman there. They were given some food and khal after explaining what was going on and ate in the caverns of the weyr with only one interruption from a female brown rider, by the name of Cristroga, inquiring on her father who was a green rider at Talor Cliff. Other than that, it was a quite meal in which the two riders talked adamantly as their dragon flirted outside. It was near nightfall when they got word of the end of Mekoth's flight and Avinoth's victory. "Had a feeling it would be him and not Rezoth," Kare commented as she mounted up once more, this time to return to her weyr. She waved a happy goodnight to V'nor before winking between with Oroth.
It’s now been four turns since Oroth’s first flight in which the white was flown by V’nor’s blue Sovreth; they produced seven eggs. The pairing stayed together for those turns Oroth having two other clutches by Sovreth. Now Kare is 19 turns old and Oroth grows proddy once more. The Weyr that they are to soon inhabit is nearing completion now yet Oroth’s next flight ways heavy in her riders mind. And now we begin their story anew. Entry 6 Kare sat sipping khal in the deserted caverns of Ryslen Weyr. Well if you didn’t count the other riders who were to one day in the next two turns or less become a part of a new Weyr on the Northern Continent. It was the beginning of Winter in the south and Ryslen herself was far enough South that they did have snow. The white rider could just see her large sized Talor Cliff bred dragon lounging on a guest ledge, not fully feeling the cold. She’d look beautiful but the thought of the frigid weather outside made Kare shiver. “Where is she?” Kare finally asked breaking the silence that reigned around the tables. Nobody answered her yet one of the first riders to join the group smiled with wine in his hand and finally spoke after lifting it in mock respect to the white rider. “Don’t worry,” he smiled, “Quachir lived in Ista most of her life, she knows what she’s doing… besides, Mekoth wouldn’t let a thing happen to her beloved rider.” “You’re about has helpful as an Wher in the middle of the day, Ar’wen,” Kare shot back. “You’ve been a bit snipish lately,” Ar’wen smirked. Camoth, shut your rider up! Oroth’s voice zipped through her rider’s head. Ar’wen chuckled as he got the message, seeming to know what was going on yet kept quiet. Kare, how much longer do we have to be here… I like it but I wanna be back with Sovreth. I know love, it’s pretty cool here compared to Talor Cliff… wouldn’t mind it as much if V’nor had come. Both rider and dragon shifted impatiently. Boots scrapping against the floor of a hallway leading into the main dinning cavern caused everyone to look towards the direction it came from. Soon three women appeared, one in riding leathers and the other two in new looking winter clothing; they still looked cold. The rider who was shorter than both the other women took her helmet, goggles and scarf off revealing a young woman of 19 turns with shoulder blade length sandy blond hair and warm brown eyes. “Well, it took a bit longer than I thought but we’re here,” Quachir smiled softly yet sheepishly, “Everyone I’d like you to meet my cousins, Koora and Sadel.” The one whom Chir had called Koora looked on curiously at the riders though she seemed a bit on guard yet her sister Sadel seemed to show no emotion. Next to Kare, Ar’wen shifted suddenly and feel out of his chair. “Sah-Sadel?!?!” Ar’wen looked startled as he finally got his head above the table. Sadel raised an eyebrow at Ar’wen and for a moment actually looked conserned. “Arawen, is that you?” she asked and both Chir and Koora looked at the young woman oddly. “Uh, yeah,” he said still frazzled by knowing one of the women Chir had brought with her, “It’s Ar’wen now though, blue Camoth’s rider.” Sadel nodded taking a chair and once again taking on a serious look that made her almost look angry at the world. Kare nearly chuckled at the looks on the gold rider and Koora’s faces. But soon things came back to order with everyone seated. “Well let’s get this thing started,” Chir finally started, “I filled in Koora and Sadel on the way. As you know I was only getting Koora but instead I ended up with both my cousins. They’ll be staking out Ryslen here. Everyone is clear on what’s happening her right?” “We’re looking for more riders,” Ar’wen replied and Kare nodded for once agreeing with the pompous upstart, or so she thought of him at these times. “You one of us should stay with them too?” one of the other blue riders asked. “We can handle it just fine,” both Koora and Sadel replied in unison, the latter more calm in her words than the former. “Lusec’s right, no offence to your cousins but there should be a rider or two here to in case it’s people we offer to instead of dragonriders,” a brown rider nodded, receiving glares at first from the cousins before he finished his statement.
