Background:
An Fei was born on mainland China. He was found as an infant by Deng Chin Sheng Wan, a wandering Ancient Master (Shao Lin, Pao Pat Mei, and Shi Ba Ban Wu Yi MA's; now 13th level), and Major Jefferson Michaels, a former soldier (ex-Green Beret in Vietnam, original OCC Commando Mercenary, 6th level) who spent time in a POW camp, where he was tortured and experimented on before escaping (switched to Hero: Experiment Category; gained Immortality, Healing Factor, and Energy Expulsion: Energy, but did not learn of powers until about 5 years before the After the Bomb setting; now 9th level). After returning home for a while, he took to wandering in the Far East as a mercenary. Both of them taught An Fei the skills they considered necessary for survival (although the Ancient Master would have preferred that he learn Pao Pat Mei Kung Fu, but you know how kids are these days...). When he turned 23, he found himself on his own: Deng Chin Sheng was leaving to find another student to teach (saying that An Fei was ready to go out on his own), while Major Michaels disappeared (he had been showing some interest in the activities being conducted by Shan Qiao, but wouldn't tell An Fei what his plans were).
An Fei took this news well (thanks to his philosophical teachings and his outlook on life), but he hopes to meet his mentors again someday. He would like to think that, when he does, they will be proud of any accomplishments he may have by then.
An Fei tends to have an easy-going outlook on life. It takes a while for him to get angry or upset over something. He does have a sore spot, though for the callous taking of a creature's life. When he reaches his limit, though, he tends to toss the rules out the window, in order to right a wrong or accomplish a mission. Even when upset, though, he tries to plan out and think over his plan before acting on it. As his mentors told him, without the proper plan and data, too many actions can turn out badly.
After his adventures in the Yichan region, An Fei continued his lonely travels across China and the Far East. After 4 years, he was reunited with his former teachers, who had kept appraised of his actions and contacts. Once together, they determined to set out for America. They wished to see how post-Flash America had fared (Michaels was feeling somewhat nostalgic, Deng was interested in tracking down some old rumors of a mysterious animal master and his proteges, and An Fei was curious to see what America was like), and bought a ship to take them there.
