Turn Twenty-Nine: Anyone got an aspirin?

The Party makes it through the very busy streets (roughly 1 am right now) to Haratai's house. There is a lot of foot, wagon traffic on the streets around the house at this time.

Adriena moves up to stand beside Ganthanor, slightly behind and with her head down-cast. Sorftly she asks, in common, "Ok, Aan - still no idea which direction they went? Which direction did _you_ go? Maybe we can go through some process of elimination." She steps back again and watches the traffic around the house. She looks for any recognizable orcs and/or wagons to determine if Haratai is back early.

Kira walked along, trying very hard to look submissive. "Ah just *hate* this," she muttered very softly to herself.

Ganthanor stammers, not sure how to respond... "I... uh... didn't understand that... what did you say?" He looks at Adriena briefly but quickly takes his eyes off of her. Ganthanor turns to keep a sharp eye out.

"Let's bust in!" Ganth looks hungry for blood. He turns around to the others... "I'm serious...."

Adriena does not react to ganth's suggestion, save for a look to Aan. Her face shows that she is relying on him to keep Ganthanor 'together' so she can play her part, the subordinate female.

"But lets try to do it quietly we dont want to attract attention," Barak sighs at Ganths continuing orcish tendencies.

Aan says, "Ganth, you want to bust in, you go right ahead. But it's my understanding that place is boobytrapped every two steps. You want to go first, it will sure help me find the traps. Otherwise, try to pipe down, this locating and disarming traps isn't exactly child's play."

Ganthanor responds, "Damn... give this orc a break will ya?! It was hard enough thinking as one of them... uh... well... you know.. those... uh... ugly white, smooth faced... things that smell funny." Ganth pauses a moment... "Where was I going with that comment? What did you say Aan? Oh yeah... your said my idea of giving you the freedom to check for traps and stuff was a good one. Well, get to it boy, we don't have all day."

Ganth rolls his eyes as he once again realizes he's behaving like an orc. He shrugs his shoulders feeling helpless and hoping the others understand. He sneaks a peak at Adriena's butt while she's turned the other way. He ogles her until she turns around whereby he immediately pretends to be paying attention to Aan.

Adriena walks up behind Aan and says in a meek voice, "I believe there were several traps and locks on the front door. I, also, think one of the traps was a crossbow. Are you going to try and break past them with so many passers-by watching? Maybe we should go around back." After saying her mind, she meekly walks back to her spot next to Kira and she tells Kira what she said, along with any response from Aan or the others.

Kira nodded to Adriena. "Ah s'pose Ah should just pra'tend t'be mute again," she whispered. "Ah've nev'uh been good at being submissive. Just trip me if Ah try t'kill one of the horrible beasts b'fore y'all're ready. Not," she added, "that the o'cs have b'haved all that diff'rently from some human men Ah've known..."

Aanparon says in both orcish and then common, "Wait in the street," as he quickly circles the building looking for anything out of place. Aanparon doesn't note anything. Returning to the front of the building, he signals for Ganthanor to join him at the front door.

Barak waits in the alley and continue to scan for guards or recruiters as Aanparon circles the building.

Adriena tells Kira, in common, to watch the windows. As for herself, the mage watches the passers-by, especially any who approach the house, keping an eye out for any recognizable orc, though none of the orcs look familiar to her.

Kira watched the windows as inconspicuously as possible, she doesn't notice anything through the shutters.

Ganth does as suggested. He readies his sword and assists Aan where possible. Looking down the street he sees things are looking good for them but tells Aan he needs to hurry anyway 'cause he's always been so slow and Ganth was wondering if it was the time he was dropped on his head when a babe.

Aanparon pulls out several of his small thieving tools, as he stands in front of the door in the busy city street, and begins tinkering with the door and the single visable lock. The very second that Aan touches the lock with one of his probes there is a large poof of black smoke and fire that engulf Aan.

Adriena places a hand on the arms of Barak and Kira. In common, she says, "Hold on. Let's keep ourselves hidden as long as possible. Ganthanor can help him for now. Keep your eyes open." She takes her eyes from the orcs around the house only long enough to observe the shutters for a moment. She doesn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Kira nods but strings her bow and nocks an arrow.

Ganth pushes Aan onto the ground and rolls him several times until the fire out. Several of the bystanding orcs laugh at this sight. Once the fire is out and Aanparon is laying somewhat stunned on the ground, Ganthanor turns and attempts to kicks in the door. His boot hits the door with a resounding, "Thud" but there is no visable effect on the door. A hue and cry for the guard emmits from the on-lookers.

Adriena says in common, "Well, here is our chance to get into the dungeons of the Keep, if we so choose. What do you two think?"

"Given the alternative," Kira drawled, "Ah think the dungeons look downright attractive." She looked around for the guards she knew must be coming.

"Sounds good to me" Barak says as he slowly takes his sword from it's sheath "might as well wait until the guards engage Ganth and Aan then take them by surprise"

Adriena replies to Barak, "No, Barak. I doubt we will need to draw blood to get ourselves arrested. Save it for when we must. Come, let me do the talking." Adriena steps out into the street, she rushes up to Ganthanor to stop him from leaving, "Wait!" She grabs his arm and pulls them close, "This is our opportunity to get arrested. It's as good a plan as any. I'll... just.. have to do without my book. Try not to fight. We'll get them angery enough to arrest us without bloodshed, I'm sure." Releasing them, Adriena stands and dons an arrogant face and stature. She places her hands on her hips and commands in a loud voice for Ganthanor to kick the door, "Try again, you sniveling weakling! I'll have what's mine, if we have to tear the whole place to the ground!"

Kira watched Adriena act in a manner sure to attract the guards' attention, "Ah don't think Ah like this plan," she mutters

Ganth really tries to break the door down... He throws his shoulder into it, willing himself through the door; however, again. The door stands fast, no apparent damage done. Again and again Ganth flings himself at the door with no apparent results.

Aanparon, laying on the ground, shakes his head clear. At his first movement he comes close to losing consciousness as he moves his seared flesh. Gingerly, Aanparon gets to his feet. He is covered with mud and excrement from rolling around on the ground.

Adriena watches Ganth throw himself at the door and then has a realization. She has heard of a spell that will bar any door, preventing its opening by any means. Perhaps this spell was used here..

The crowd parts as nine orcs in the uniform of the City watch come bursting through, armed with batons and clubs, towards Aanparon, Adriena and Ganthanor. A black robed orc follows on the heels of the Watch.

Adriena grabs Ganthanor's shoulder, moves up behind him and says, low, "That's enough. You did well, but I think it is magicaly sealed. Once again, we are not enough, but we must move forward." She turns and steps forward to place herself in front of the others, facing the on-coming guards. A look of pain and worry crosses her face when she gets a closer look at Aan. She remembers the head wound of Ganthanor's and her own aches and reminds herself that she must be careful. She stands and waits for the guards or black-robe to initiate the encounter...

Ganthanor looks extremely frustrated. He's been on this mission for weeks, suffered as an Orc (which is becoming quite comfortable but for some reason, he feels it shouldn't), beaten, dragged around, left in the alley's garbage, washed dishes, put up with other Orcs, and hasn't been able to score for WAY to long.

He snaps and rushes the nearest Orc patrol guard. He attacks with his sword without regard for his personal safety.

Adriena is shocked by Ganthanor's aggressive attack, but does nothing to stop him. Neither does she make any hostile moves of her own. Barak nods his head and sheathes his sword and follows Adriena out into the street...

As Ganth charges, Barak shakes his head in frusteration and mutter to himself, "First no swords, then swords make up your mind." Barak takes a defensive stance and puts one hand on his sword but does not draw it from his safe position away from the main fighting.

Aanparon seems to blend in with the crowd, disappearing from view.

Kira moves to stand next to Adriena. "This is your plan?" she whispers.

Adriena whispers back, "Getting arrested for breaking and entering? Yes. Getting killed in the street is not, so put away your bow."

"Ah'm not ov'uhly fond of eith'uh option," Kira whispered, but nonetheless put her arrows back in her quiver and slung the bow on her back.

The rest of Kira's words are cut off as the orcs close in on the party. Ganthanor slices the nearest orc to him with a long slash along the orc's belly, cutting through leather, metal and flesh. The orc grasps feebly at his stomach as his life drains out of him. The scent of blood invigorates Ganthanor.

Ganthanor's backswing takes another orc in the chest, dropping him like a sack of floor. Ganth is thrown off balance as his sword lodges itself in the orc's backbone. Two orcs, taking advantage of Ganth's misfortune, move in quickly and show that they are experienced at working as a team as one knocks Ganth slightly to put him straight in the path of the other's club. Ganth falls to the ground unconscious.

Adriena stalks over to where Ganthanor is lying and before she opens her mouth to speak, three orcs pile on top of her, clubs and batons flashing. Adriena goes down, unconscious. At the same time the other orcs shoot straight at Kira and Barak.

Barak draws his sword and swings it in a wide arc. His blow slices across an orc's neck. Blood fountains out of the orc as head and body are separated. Barak isn't fast enough bringing his sword back on guard and is assaulted by four orcs. The lead orc, a smallish orc, sprawls forward as a larger orc behind him pushes him into contact with Barak's sword. His sword slices into the orc quite easily; however it gives the other three orcs an opportunity to use their clubs and mass to good effect. Barak gets struck by two of the orcs and shrugs the blows off, right before he get's hit by the third, the black robed orc shouts, "DIE!" Barak half swoons, half collapses as the third orc brings his baton to bear directly on Barak's thick skull. Barak hits the ground.

At the same time, Kira stands fast, holding her empty hands out in front of her in surrender. This makes it very easy for the two orcs to baton her into unconsciousness.

Aanparon blends into the crowd watching as his friends all get knocked out. He watches as the orcs club down several other of the by-standers as well. The crowd quickly disperses. Aanparon moves a safe distance away and watches as the Watch piles the unconscious orcs onto a press wagon and heads off towards the keep.
