The Deployment

Turn Five: The Deployment

Adriena goes to the table and takes two gold , 10 silver, and 10 copper. After placing them in her pockets, she states, " If there are no further suggestions on the spells, I would take the stoneskin, My Lady Otasura. It would afford me considerable protection , as I have not any to speak of " She holds her arms out from her body to show she has no armour or weapons.

Aanparon says to the group: "I'm not really the fighting type. I've spent most of my life attempting, not always sucessfully, to avoid confrontations. In fact I've not faired all that well when confronted. If you wish me to assume the role of swordsman, I fear I shall let you down. I think Ganthanor should receive the strength and enchanted weapon. If he still refuses, I will accept them, but don't expect magic to make a great swordsman of me, I fear the magic has no natural talent to work with. My talents and abilities lie elsewhere."

Ganthanor says, "My sensibilities tell me that I should accept your gifts M'Lady but my 'indifference' to magic tells me to decline. I have taken a moment to think about it and for the party's sake I will accept. Should anyone require or need a spell, take it. IF any are left over I will endure the magic for the party's well being. I could not bear the death of any one because I refused some help. Good Lady, should there be any spells left over, give them to me." Ganthanor continues to stand within the pentagram waiting for the party's choices and readiness.

"It does occur to me that Malis may be the one who is challenged the most - from religious rivals. Perhaps she will consider having the Strength and Enchanted Weapon , while Aan can use the Protection from Missles to avoid injury??", says Andriena thoughtfully.

The Lady taps her chin and then says, "What I understand so far is that Garth should get the infravision and improved invisibility, Ganthanor or Malis should get the enchanted weapon and strength, Gregory or Adriena should get the stoneskin, and Aanparon should get the protection from missiles. This would leave the armour spell unaccounted for."

She pauses as she thinks, "It is not my affair but I would suggest that Garth receive the infravision/invisibility, Ganthanor receive the Enchanted weapon and Strength, Malis receive the protection from Missiles, Gregory receive the Stoneskin and Adriena receive the armour spell." She nods to herself for a moment, "That would make the most tactical sense," the battle-mage concludes.

Adriena says, " I concede to your superior wisdom and experience, My Lady. If I may, I would like to watch very closely the casting of the spells, and may I have a look at the components that you will use? I promise not to touch them or disturb you."

Otasura replies, "It was a suggestion only, if the group agrees, I will cast the spells as such. You can watch the casting if you wish but once you reach my skill level you do not need components except for the most difficult spells."

"That sounds good to me," Gregory replies, with anticipation in his voice, "lets get going."

Aanparon says, "I'm with Gregory. Get on with it. I've never been the patient type, though I suppose I should learn."

You lost track of Garth for a moment and notice him now, standing in the circle waiting for the Lady's spells and teleportation. He absently jingles a couple of siver coins in his hand and smiles mischieviously.

The Lady looks to see if there are any more questions, seeing that there isn't, she moves through the group of orcs, stopping momentarily infront of each to ensure that their brooch is secured on them and to cast the spells upon them. She casts upon Garth the spells of infravision and improved invisibility. Upon Ganthanor she casts upon his sword, Enchanted weapon and upon him Strength. Upon Malis she casts protection from Missiles. Upon Gregory she casts Stoneskin and finally upon Adriena she casts armour.

After the spells are woven and Lady Otasura is ready to teleport the group, Adriena reaches down the front of her shirt , grabs her spell component jar, takes out a pinch of sand, and replaces the jar. "Ok, I'm ready. If we _do_ appear amongst hostle Orcs, I will attempt to put them to sleep. Hopfully, that will make our arrival less noticed."

"Now three of you at a time, Garth, Aanparon and Ganthanor, you will be first. Step inside of the circle, the rest of you wait outside of it. Without the Ca'ega's teleportation magics I can only send three at a time," She says as the three step within the circle. With a wave of her hand and some words that can not be remembered the three vanish in a white poof of smoke.

"Quickly, you other three," The Lady says, the fatigue of casting so many spells evident on her face. The last three quickly comply and just as quickly the unrememberable words are spoken and they too disappear. Otasura's smile is heavy with fatigue as she gives a small prayer in the hopes that the group completes their mission.

As each of you are being teleported, your senses reel from the shock. After a moment, the whirling sensation drains away, and you focis on your surroundings. The room is large and bare, with a stone floor hidden under a thick layer of filth and debris. The walls are gouged and vandalized. The windows are open, revealing a rapidly darkening sky; it is just after sunset, and the light is fading. The terrible, stomach-turning stench of burned flesh fills the air. The first group manages to stumble out of the circle just as the second group appears.

The room that you are in is 30'x40', in the northeast corner there is a open doorway (on the east wall). The floor is covered with debris. On both the West and South walls there are two shuttered windows about five feet apart. In the center of the room on the ceiling there is the remanents of a wooden ladder that seemingly connected to a trapdoor. The remains of the ladder do not look very sound and they are eight feet above the ground. There are no visable creatures in this room.
