An easy 7 step installation:
1. Create a directory of your choice.
2. Copy LAZY.EXE to that directory.
3. Copy all HTML files to that directory.
4. Copy all GIF files to that directory.
5. Copy the MSVBVM50.DLL in your Windows\System directory.
6. Delete the temporary directory.
7. Create a shortcut on your desktop.
This part requires a little interaction form you.
This is the shortcut property screen. I assume you know how to access it.
A - That's the name of your shortcut, I suggest you name it WinPlan (the name doesn't really matter though).
B - This is the important part. LAZY works with an command line argument. The command line argument has to be the path to your WINPLAN.EXE, if you don't get that right it won't work at all. (i.e.: my WinPlan directory is C:\WPL and I put LAZY.EXE in the same directory, so my whole line would read: C:\WPL\LAZY.EXE C:\WPL
C - You may change the original LAZY icon to the original Winplan icon (vplogo.ico, provided in this archive).
After you are done with that you will click your new shortcut everytime you want to start WinPlan. There is no need to restart your computer after the installation is done.
Features
Proud To Be Lazy! does nothing else than skip this bugging "Loading Data ..." Winplan start screen.
This has an interesting history though.
On the 26th of January 98 I send Tim an email asking if he could remove this screen since it is really annoying that you have to click "Start" even though you already have started Winplan. (The screen can not be removed completely, but it could be changed in a way that the user wouldn't have to click on "Start" anymore.)
Anyway, Tim wrote back that he would add this matter to his "Things-to-do-with-Winplan-list".
On the 2nd of February I asked him in another email (completely different topic): "BTW, will there be a new V3.5 version in the near future?" and his answer to this one was: "No plans of one right now.".
Well, no doubts about that Tim is very busy with V4, also no doubts about that Winplan needs quite a few changes, but this splash screen could be removed by changing a few lines in the original code and IMHO that really wouldn't be such a big deal.
Anyway, since there won't be a new version anytime soon and since a lot of people are annoyed by this screen I just wrote a litte tool to skip it. The code has just about 10 lines, VB made a 10K file out of it. Geeez ...
I hope you like it anyway.
