Right from the first time I saw the original, I have always loved the
Die Hard series. When I
read about a Die Hard game I was anxious to try it out. The flyer promised:
"This is the coolest arcade action game you'll ever see on Klik
n Play. Based on the blockbuster Die Hard movie trilogy, this non stop
shoot-em-up is packed with awesome explosions and tons of blood and gore.
There are four different weapons, all of which can be used to annihilate
the enemy. There are nine BIG levels, each packed with enemies and action.
Enemy movement is randomly generated, which means the game is different
every time you play. You are John McClane, and your mission is to kill
all of the terrorists and place bombs throughout the building. The game
has tons of original art, and in fact, the only graphics taken from the
KNP graphics library are some that appear in the ending. The game has an
awesome soundtrack, as well as cool digitized sound bytes. You can't miss
out on this one! Well worth the download time!"
And to be honest, I feel a little gipped. Aside from the title the
game has almost no relevence
to Die Hard. Your character (Mc Clane) could be just about anybody.
In the game, bad guys pour out of doors and bounce around the screen,
shooting at you. You
can pick up conveniently placed guns which upgrade your fire power,
adding a bit of spice into a rather uninspiring game.
Die Hard is fun to play at first but each level is more or less the
same, aside from a new
background. The game doesn't seem to get harder as you play on, either
and I beat the game on my first go in ten minutes.
On the up-side though, the graphics are very nice and the midi-music
is excellent. It is
probably the game's best point.
All in all, Die Hard is a bit too easy and the levels too repetetive.
A few extra ideas and a bit
more variety between levels would make this game great.

Mc
Clane handles quite well.
Sometimes
a little fiddly and the backgrounds clash with the bullets.

Die
Hard's main fault; you can play the game out in under half an hour. |

Die Hard is a potentially great game that could do with more level-variety
and a higher degree of difficulty. |
