Ok, you have everything and now you want to see it on the web. No problem. The first thing you wanna do is find a server that will allow you to send your files to and that will give you a certain amount of disk space. I recommend creating your homepage at GEOCITIES. The reason for this is that you get a very good page maintaining program and you can have up to 2 megs of disk space on their server. Here's a step by step detailed explanation of how to create your homepage at geocities:

 

1. Go to http://www.oocities.org.Your browser might freeze while trying to connect to GeoCities like if the site is not there. This is **NOT** true. What happens is that there are people who have just finished sending their files to GeoCities and the server is updating itself. This state will stay like that for about 5 minutes after which you will be able to continue. Check back in 5 minutes.

2. Right below the picture, click on FREE HOMEPAGES AND FREE MEMBER E-MAIL.

3. Next click on FREE_HOME_PAGES.

4. To make your homepage, you will have to find an available adress for it to take place. The adress is recognised by neighborhood and then by number. Click on NEIGHBORHOOD DIRECTORY.

5. You will now be presented all the neighborhoods that are available at GeoCities. There will be a brief description beside them to indicate what kind of homepages go in that neighborhood. First take a look at all the nighborhoods available and then choose the one that best describes the subject of your homepage. NOTE THAT THE SILLICON VALLEY AND THE TIMESSQUARE NEIGHBOORHOODS DOES NOT HAVE ANY PLACE LEFT FOR OTHER PEOPLE.

6. Once you chose your neiborhood, you will be taken to a little presentation page. If it's the right neighborhood for your page, then click on the JOIN icon.

7. Just to make sure again, GeoCities will re-present the neighborhood. It will ask ask you if it's the right neighborhood for you and if you want to proceed or if it's not and you want to another one. Well, what can I say... Answer the question !!!

8. Now that you chose your neighborhood, you will be taken to a search engine. No don't worry, this is supposed to happen ! What you have to do is find an available address for your site. Even though they tell you to limit your search to 4 blocks (a block is a range of 100 addresses; for ex: 1200 - 1300), do a serach from the beginnning of the range 'till the end. It might take a while but you will be certain to find a place for you. If you get an answer saying that there are no addresses available, sorry but it looks like there is no more place for you in that neighborhood. You will have to find another one. TIP: Restart with #1 and choose a different neighborhood.

9. If there are places left, you will be told that there are X addresses available at block XXXX to XXXX. Note that X will be a number that may vary. Choose one of the block ranges. It may be best to choose the one that has the most addresses available because it will later be easyer to find an empy address.

10. You will now be presented the list of all the addresses available in the neighborhood range. (There are 100). Take a look at the legend on top. See that AVAILABLE image ? You're gonna have to look for that image on the rest of the page. It will be placed beside an address number. That means that the current address is available and you can use it for your homepage. Click on APPLY FOR THIS ADDRESS.

11. You can relax now becuase the hard part is over and soon, you'll be finished. You will now have to provide a whole bunch of information about you. Fill in everything that you are comfortable with. Some things are necessary while some are optional. If you don't want to include certain information, don't. The things that are necessary are not private so you should not worry. Fill in the necessary stuff, fill in the rest if you want to, and then click SUBMIT.

12. You will now be taken to a confirmation screen. It can weather be an error or a success. If it's an error, it's most likely a conflict with the information that you entered and someone else's. For example the GeoCities member name you chose is already taken. You will need to go back and change it until you come to the sucess screen. When you do it will say the information you entered. If all is ok and correct, click ACCEPT. If not, go back again and change it.

13. For the following, just read the text. Why should I explain it again ? Go check your e-mail for a new message that will confirm your password. You will need it later to upload your files.
