What Troops then..???
I firmly believe in taking as large a unit of Longbeards as possible. I normally field 24 including my General and BSB. Accompanying this lot, a hefty unit of Slayers, perhaps split into two units. Never give them two handed weapons, always extra hand weapons. I also take a unit of Crossbows to act as a screen for my main infantry, the Champion that accompanies them always has the Fiery Ring.....
I always take a large unit of Hammerers and some Clansmen to hold up a flank with the Slayers. Miners, never as they strike last...Thunderers are just s*** (wait unitl the new Dwarf Slayer Pirates are released, see my news section).
War Machines...
What can I say??? ORGAN GUNS, ORGAN GUNS AND MORE ORGAN GUNS!! I love 'em!! People say they misfire too often, well perhaps my artillery dice is blessed by Grungi, but mine (touch gromril) rarely blow up...perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I fire all barrels off in the first turn, my reasoning being that the enemy will be in combat by the third so you may as well wipe him out quickly. Also, people tend to destroy a Dwarf armies war machines with big flying things, it doesn't matter if the gun has fired all barrels and can't fire until turn three does it??? I tend to aim both my OG's at his nastiest unit, probably hiding his General and shoot away....sooner or later he will fail a "look out sir!" roll won't he?I also take a cannon, with Rune of Forging, just so I have a weapon that can react to any unforeseen threats. My War machines are rounded off by the inevitable Gyrocopter to run down fleeing units and steam enemy war machines crew, especially those damn repeater bolt throwers!!
