The History of King Thorgrim Janeksen

Throgrim Janeksen Dwarf King of Karak Hirn 349pts Thorgrim has the standard Dwarf King Stats...

The story of how Thorgrim became King of Karak Hirn is a strange one. He was born to a relatively poor (for Dwarf standards!) family that resided near to Kraka Drak in the North. He spent much of his early years there learning the arts of war under the tutelage of his father, a champion of the Hold. It was one summer when he was reaching maturity as a Dwarf (his beard had just reached two foot long and was a fine jet black), when news came of a Skaven attack on an outlying Dwarf village. Immediately all the Dwarfs, including his Champion father, went to aid the village.

Thorgrim, being a shortbeard, was forced to remain behind and guard the family in his fathers absence. The party of Dwarfs never returned. Word has it they were ambushed on the road to the village by the Skaven, and that Guttri, Thorgrim’s father, fell in battle while swinging the family battle axe against nothing less than a Vermin Lord. Dismayed at the loss of the head of the family, Thorgrim left his mother and sisters in the care of the King of Kraka Drak and went wandering the Old World.

His many adventures toughened the young Dwarf to the ways of battle and he became a great warrior. Eventually, he came upon the hold of Karak Hirn in the Black Mountains. He was made welcome by the resident King Frogas and rose quickly to become the leader of a regiment of Hammerers. He fought alongside the King many times and became like a son, and the King replacing Thorgrim’s natural father.

Just when happiness seemed within his grasp, Frogas was struck down in battle against the Skaven. Thorgrim cursed the Rat Spawn and swore vengence against all of their kind. With his dying breath, Frogas, who was without progeny, appointed Throgrim as his chosen successor, and bequeathed him his mighty Hammer “Headcracker”. Bound by the request of his dying mentor he could not take the path of the Slayer and therefore ascended to the throne.

Since then Thorgrim has ruled the Hold fairly yet firmly and successfully led it’s armies in many battles against all foes, but his main vengence lies with the Skaven which will abide with him till his dying day.
