Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League
We currently play in the Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League, after being elected in 1952. The league comprisies of two divisions of First XI's & 2 divisions of reserve XI's. Each team in the league must field both a first XI and a reserve XI. The league covers a wide area, from Knaresborough in North Yorkshire to Illingworth in Halifax, and from Collingham to Skipton.
Next year (1998) their are plans for a third XI league to be played on Sundays.
In 1998 both our first & second XI's will play in their respective divisions. The competition begins in early May, and runs through to mid September. All league games are 50 overs per side, and all are played on Saturday afternoons, except for the dubble weekend of late May bank holiday match, which are played on Saturday & Monday. All games start at 2 pm except the last 4 which start at 1pm. All clubs must provide 2 balls per match, to be upto league standard and should be passed by the umpires prior to the match starting.
Each team plays each other twice per season, with promotion & relegation as appropriate. The bottom 2 teams in the first XI division B must seek reelcetion at the league's AGM, fighting against clubs which have applied to the league.
