Raleem Swiftwhisper

The Wayward Windling

From the notes of Caarad Surestrider, submitted to Borrum Binbalik for his work "On the Bearers of Akasha".

26 Doddul 1508

While not an official member of the Bearers of Akasha, Raleem Swiftwhisper has spent considerable time with them. I had the 'pleasure' of speaking with her recently at The Gilded Lilly. I arrived there early, and took a seat facing the door so I could witness her entrance. It was easy to pick her out when she arrived, for she carried the crystal windling sword that was reputedly a gift from Garnel. There is much speculation about the involvement of the two, but nothing has been confirmed as yet. She took a quick look around the tavern, pausing slightly at a few individuals with full pouches, and then proceeded over to my table.

"Well, I don't really know what you want me to tell you about the Bearers, but I guess I will start with my first encounter with them. I was in Throal for the first time, and looking for a place to stay. Word on the street was that the Bearers had been given apartments in the royal chambers, and that they were going to be away for a few months. I didn't see any harm in my staying at Garnel's, so I went through the proper channels and got a key. He got back earlier than I expected, though, and caught me. He was kind about it though, even letting me keep this sword since he had Voracious to keep himself safe. Now he's planning on going off to Viln, to swear an oath as the Protector of Viln because of that same sword. Now, I just can't imagine living in a city full of orks, they are so serious and dreary, I just hope the Bearers will be ok without me. I've saved their lives a few times, as you may have heard. Well, I have to set out early in the morning. I'm going to return home to my family in the Striptrees! I hope this was helpful to you. Oh, and I'll pay for the tab. So long!"

Leaning back in relaxation, I thought it was a refreshing change for the hero to pay for the historian's drink until I saw Raleem take out MY pouch to pay at the bar. By the time I managed to get out of the chair and across the room, she was out the door and gone, and I was short thirty silver.

**Note: In an unfortunate addendum to this entry, Raleem was stricken with spellcraft shortly after her departure from Throal, and remains comatose. Questors of Garlen are working to find someone who can heal her.
