Working Designs has announced their first PlayStation title a shooter. RayStorm, Taito's overhead shooter will be released here under WD's new label, "SPAZ." This is only the first of many titles to be released under SPAZ, as WD's new division will concentrate on bringing out the best Japanese shooters and arcade action titles. Why these types of games? Just as WD was a key figure in the popularity growth of RPGs in America they want to release these impressive titles that might not make it here any other way. And as always, they will keep the package quality high, while keeping the price as low as possible (under $50). Other PSX title's as well AND Saturn titles will appear thanks to this new division.
Working Designs fans have been upset ofer this desision to make games for PSX. But this new division will not effect the company's stand on their favorite genre, so expect new RPG announcements in the near future!
Eidos today announced the development of Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business. Picking up exactly where the first game in the series left off, in Unfinished Business, players will control Lara Croft in her quest to destroy the remaining hatchery of Atlantean pods previously encountered in the Atlantis levels. The pack will include two expert levels to play, in addition to high resolution renders of Tomb Raider art and preview materials for Tomb Raider 2.
"The high demand from the public for more Tomb Raider levels has been overwhelming," said Mike McGarvey, CEO of Eidos Interactive. "In Unfinished Business, gamers get more of the exciting gameplay of Tomb Raider at a great price."
The add-on pack is expected to be released this summer for about $20 and requires the ownership of the original title. The pack should satisfy Tomb Raider fans until the release of Tomb Raider 2 later this year.
Eidos says that this Add on CD will not be available for PSX or Saturn. "It was just too hard to coordinate releasing the add-on for consoles. We looked into it, but at this point, there is just no easy way to do it -- between coordinating manufacturing, going back in and reprogramming, and working out the distribution and royalties for a cheap, add-on disc we just couldn't do it." Eidos says
Nintendo and PSX could be getting games soon. The 3DO Company is looking into producing some initial title game for N64, this game likely to arrive at the same time as BattleSport. PlayStation will also be getting games as well Blade Force, Battle Sport and Killing Time, and much speculation has been made about the possibility of sequels to one or more of those titles. An M2 baseball game the company is presently working on, tentatively titled High Heat could be on N64.

Also Electronic Arts has signed a multiyear contract with Nintendo to publish a line of EA Sports games on Nintendo 64.

Silhouette Mirage is the title of the game and its on its way to the Saturn. The game is rumored to play just like Gunstar Heroes/Contra. No release date has been announced for Silhouette Mirage, but a 3rd to 4th quarter release is a good bet. And knowing Sega's track record with Treasure games (except Yu Yu Hakusho), a US release of Silhouette Mirage is highly probable.
Mentioned earlier in my news, The Adventures of Sub Zero the new title of the game is NOW Mortal Kombat Anthology: Sub Zero. The game is to be developed only for PlayStation and Nintendo 64 by an in-house team headed by John Tobias (who is one of the original MK team) making it the first full consumer title developed by the MK arcade group.
It will play like a Final Fight type of game and an adventure. The engine for the game has been described as 'Pseudo 3D' in that is is possible to move into or out of the screen like Bug on the Saturn.
The setting for the game is before the tournaments of Outworld and would answer many of the questions that the previous MK titles have raised. Currently it is slated for release in November of this year.
