Star Fox 64, the N64 sequel to popular SNES shooter, is scheduled to appear in America on June 23! Nintendo also
announced the Force Pack (The Jolt Pack in Japan), a controller pack that vibrates in tune to the on-screen action, should
also come out on the same day. Star Fox 64. Much like Star Fox for Super NES, Star
Fox 64 is a fast-action arcade-style flying shooter, which makes use of the Nintendo 64's
graphic power, and is designed to move incredibly quick, with near-
instantaneous reaction time. This one looks incredibly rich in
textures and is filled with obstacles and highly varied gameplay.
The Jolt Pack, adds a buzz each time Fox McCloud's vehicle is shot, adding a light-hearted arcade feel.
Two levels are showed in these pics, a grassy valley surrounded by hills and
rivers, with riverbanks, cities, and rolling hills forcing gamers to
out-maneuver on coming obstacles, and a similar looking
level that makes use of the tank. Barrel rolls are still intact with both
vehicles, and at least three weapons will be included (gunfire,
missiles, and the barrel roll fire). The bosses are giant, slow-moving mechs with lots of
firepower.
The fantastically light-sourced and fast-paced opening sequence,
featuring Slippy, Fox McCloud, and the rest in the Mother Ship
during a red alert, running for their fighters are cool.
The level select showed at least 10 different levels, and its predicted that there will be as many as 15 or more, which should back up Nintendo's quality vs. quantity argument quite well.
