Angeni Kithalas is a young (for her race, anyhow) elf
maiden of 120. Her parents were well off and highly
respected in Silvanost, and she spent her early years
living a sheltered, idyllic existence. Long promised
in marriage to the son of her parents' closest
friends, she was trained in all areas that would lead
to her success as the perfect wife, and never gave
thought to any other possible future. Several years
ago, her parents hired a tutor, Everett, for her to
train her further in the areas of politics, faith and
ethics. Long, long hours spent with Everett in deep
and fascinating conversation left a huge impression on
the young Angeni and she found herself infatuated with
the man. Her headstrong determination to avoid the
prearranged marriage, along with her parents' utter
dismay at her selection of a man so far beneath her
station, led to great unrest between herself and them.
Naturally, she turned to Everett for comfort. His
long-standing anger over events in his own life found
a convenient target in her parents. Over the last two
years, the tension built to an unbearable degree and
when harsh words were spoken between Everett and
Angeni's parents, he slew them in cold blood. Angeni's
shock and grief, along with the accusatory glances of
her lifelong friends in Silvanost proved to be far
more than she could handle and she left to make her
way in the greater world, and to put the deep wounds
of her parents' deaths and Everett's betrayal behind
her. Having just arrived in Kalaman, she has
befriended few. Without quite realizing it, she has
deeply buried these most recent memories, and
convinced herself that her sole reason for coming to
Kalaman is to pursue her studies in the faith of
Kiri-Jolith. The fact that she, in her own mind,
caused the deaths of two people without provocation or
justification, has led to a deep seated guilt that
weighs heavily on her, and nearly necessitates the
overcompensation she seems to make through her pursuit
of perfect faith.
