The Moment of Truth

Ghaleon's spell flies from his palm, directed toward his nemesis's. Laike jumps in the middle of its path.....

"Ghaleon, stop this madness!"

"What!?...Dyne!!??" Ghaleon says in utter surprise as he tries to stop his spell short, but is too late. The spell soars forth and strikes Laike square in the chest. His torso is tossed backward a few feet and lands with a breathtaking thud.

The whole group stares at this drastic turn of events. They hadn't planned on Ghaleon's spell hitting him before he had a chance to defend himself. Their eyes turn bitterly toward Ghaleon. Jessica and Marle continue to stare at Laike's body, trying to cast their revival spells.

Ghaleon remains frozen in his stance. His eyes now fully widen to soak up what just happened. His extended arm begins to tremble erratically. Then he slowly turns his palm toward his face, looking at the instrument of destruction that has killed the only true friend he ever knew. His mind recalls flashing images in his mind of the dreaded day at the black dragon's cave. To add insult to injury, he also starts envisioning the white dragon's cave incident, which was not but a few weeks ago.

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Magus watches on in a humble manner, "Hmmm...such a dramatic scene. This partner of mine is not as efficient as I thought. He has emotions." His spellcasting ceases and drops his arm down to his side.

"Everyone ready to strike?", asks Alex to his party, "Jessica? Marle? Hello?"

The priestess and mage desperately try to revive their fallen ally, but to no avail. Jessica casts calm litanies and Marle her Life2 spell, but no results are shown. The spell that hit him was so full of evil, of hatred, that nothing could brings a person back from the dead. It completely stripped the soul away from his body.

Ghaleon continues to look on and hopes inside that they can revive him. Luckily the flashbacks have stopped. However, their efforts dwindle because no response is seen, even in the slightest. Ghaleon begins to feel sorrow as well, but only for a second. He clenches his fist in rage and points it flawlessly at the group, "YOU DID THIS! YOU TRICKED HIM! IF IT WASN'T FOR YOU DYNE WOULD STILL BE ALIVE!! PREPARE TO DIE!"

Magus uncrosses his arms and readies for battle.
