The story is pretty simple. After Megaman beat the crap out of Dr. Wily in the first game, he made eight new robots to go after Mega Man. The game is set up like the original, you defeat all the robot masters then you go to Wily's skull shaped castle. You defeat Wily and then you watch the ending hoping that Dr. Wily is dead or something. This is repeated over and over in the Mega Man games but it's a formula that actually works.
The eight robot masters are more original and varied in this game then in the first one. Bubble man looks like a scuba diver and shoots bubbles out of his head. Flash man is probably the easiest of the bosses, he freezes time then he shoots at you but he usually misses even at point blank range! Quick man is probably the toughest of the bosses and has the toughest level. He runs around the room and throws boomerangs at you. Metal man throws buzzsaws at you and wears a tiny buzzsaw on his head. Wood man (huh huh, wood) uses throws leaves at you, that's right, leaves. Air man has a fan in his mouth and shoots miny tornadoes at you. Crash man (whose name makes no sense) throws bombs that stick to walls at you. And the last one is Heat man, the best I can describe him is that he looks like a midget in a box.
The gameplay in MM2 is similar to the first one only....better, it has better challenge and graphics and has some cool new items. The reason many people(including me) like this MM game the best is because this game took the biggest jump to sequel, MM2 was much better than 1, but 3 three wasn't much better than 2. Another reason I like this game is that it was before Rush, before Protoman, before Flip-top. I like that.
And a side note. Why does Mega Man look like such a dork on the American version's box art? And why does he have a gun?
