Ninja Gaiden's plot revolves around a young ninja named Ryu's quest to find his supposedly dead father. The quest will take him all the way from a city in America to the Amazon Jungle. The game's story unfolds in cinema scenes which were a first for the NES and they all are extremely cool and really draw you into the game.
Something I kinda like and kinda hate about this game is how it sets you up. For example, you blast through a level killing demons, guys with bazookas, and enemy ninjas, you start thinking your really bad but then you get knocked into a pit by a bat. Nothing can make you more angry than that.
The game's challenge is something legendary. Actually, most of the game isn't THAT hard but the last level....God I hate the last level, that thing gives me nightmares everytime I play it. It's extremely hard and long, and if you die at the final boss, you start at the very beginning of that bitch of a level. It'll drive you nuts.
This game has some extremely cool powerups and moves. Powerups are obtained by slashing objects and animals that look like part of the background(like lanterns, birds, and stuff). The powerups (called ninja arts) range from shurikens to fire balls that wipe out the enemy. As for the moves you can do all kinds odf cool ninja things like flips and hanging on walls.

| They look extremely good for their time. I give them an 8 | Most of the tunes in this game simply rock. I give it a 9 | I like the sound but I wish they sounded more "ninja like", it's hard to explain. I give it a 7 | Near flawless. Notice I said "near" it's somewhat annoying to do wall jumps. I give it an 8 anyway though. | can't even explain how classic this game is. I give it a 9 |
