You know a lot of people may disagree with this, but Punch-Out! is the BEST NES game of all time, in my opinion of course...
MTPO (sounds weird, doesn't it?) is a boxing game where you take on the role of Little Mac, a midget boxer working his way up through the circuit to challenge Iron Mike. Mac's trainer is Doc Louis, former heavyweight champ and a big fat guy. Doc's hints are indespinsible like "Keep your guard up!" and "Join the Nintendo Fun Club Today Mac!"(Ok, so I got that from Seanbaby's NES page, forgive me.)
Fighting in this game is easy, basically it's dodge and punch, most of the boxers in this game are stupid enough to telegraph their punches. Lots of the boxers have special attacks most of these attacks are pretty easy to counter, and if you do counter, they usually go down for the count. Yay.
You start the game in the minor circuit like boxers do. Your first opponent is Glass Joe, with his stunning 1-99 record it's hard to believe he's in the minor circuit. Just kidding. Von Kaiser is next, after a failed career as a Neo Nazi, he took up boxing, unfortunately he is a real wimp too. Piston Honda is the minor circuit champ. Hailing from Japan, he is extremely adept at translating NES games. His special attack is the "Piston Punches" where he runs toward you and pounds on your little midget head...ouch. After winning the minor circuit, Mac dons a gay looking pink jump suit and jogs with Doc who is on a bike, they stop in front of the statue of Liberty and you get a password. Whopee!
The major circuit is next up for Mac. His first opponent is Don Flamenco, the gay Flamenco dancer that wears a toupee. Ole! Next up is King Hippo, he is a big fat guy with a big fat mouth, when he opens his big mouth, punch it then his pants will drop, keep plugging him in the stomach and he'll keep taking damage.Rinse,Lather,Repeat. Great Tiger your next opponent, gave me nightmares the first time I fought him. He fights like Von Kaiser except he can disappear, fly around the room and punch you, block all his punches, and he'll be stunned, punch in the face and he'll kiss the canvas. Bald Bull is the towering champion of the major circuit. He taunts Mac by saying "My barber didn't know when to quit, do you?" OOH, I'm scared. His special attack is the "Bull charge", where he hops toward you and hits you with an uppercut and knocks you down in one freakin' hit! He has a flaw in this, however, try punching him in the stomach when he charges.
I'm going to skip the world circuit and go straight to the Mike Tyson fight. Basically the World Circuit has a lot of boxers you've already fought, and some new freaks, of course.
Mike Tyson is without a doubt, the cheapest boss in video game history. For the first 1:30 of the match he throws uppercuts that will knock you down in ONE hit. Then after that, he throws lightning jabs that he doesn't telegraph at all. After that, however, things get a bit easier. Sometimes Kid Dynamite will just stand still and blink his eyes, if you punch him then he'll get knocked out! Ha! Eat it you ear biter!

| Seriously, the graphics are pretty good. The boxers and mac are well animated and the portraits of the boxers are done well | The same tune for every fight seems kind of boring but it's a classic. | Good sound effects, no real complaints here. | Like I said before, this is my favorie NES game so I think it's great, be sure to get this game if you don't have it already |
