You attack with a spinning fire thingy (it is cooler than it sounds) that you can power up with "mind" (magic). The three "minds" are: Power up, Health, and Attack and Assail. Attack and Assail is pretty useless. It just lets you hit everything on the screen for about 10 seconds, and it costs five Mind Points (Magic Points). Recover refills your life (it takes all of your MP {7}), and Power up you should use right away, because it makes your fire whip go much faster and it only costs three MP.
The game is based around finding all of the "Indora's Items" (grappling hook, wind pulley, crossbow, coat of arms, Indora's Armor) and then beating up the last boss. Getting there is what makes this game kick so much ass.
Getting every piece of armor (well, most pieces) is a unique task, filled with a great combination of fighting, ingenuity, and all out brainpower (you try figuring out what those damn hermits are saying!!!).
There are many areas to this game, all with interesting names I am not even going to try to say. Each area is connected with a door, a wind pulley ride, or something else. At first, to the beggining gamer, the game is confusing, but that is a con that can easily be overlooked considering I have beaten it about 5 or 6 times since I got it about a month ago.
Other music is good but this music... This music, is awesome! Oh yeah, well you keep your powergloves off her buddy... Sorry, I was just watching The Wizard. But seriously, this game has the most kickass addictive music I have ever heard in a video game, that is why I have it on my site. Almost all of the music is very good quality, but the last level music isn't as powerful as I think it should be.
Well, all in all, Rygar is a game that should be held and loved by all. If you don't own this game, BUY IT!!!
| Graphics | Music | Sound | Control | Overall | |
| The graphics arent top-of-the-line, but they are nothing to gripe about. I'd say 8.0. | Like I said, The Best. 9.5 (it would be a ten but one caves music consists completely of 4 notes... Damn). | Not much sound except the satisfying "Fwump" of your fire whip. 8.5. | The only gripe I have is if you transfer from left or right to up without letting go, you keep moving in the direction you were going in. Still, everything else is top notch! 8.0 | One of my favorite games. Definatly a classic. 10. |
