Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade game

Remember when the Turtles were big? I was a huge fan of the Turtles when I was a kid. When I first glanced at the arcade game, I fell in love with it. Have you ever played it with three other friends? It's a blast when you do. Anyway, when I heard that there was going to be a home conversion of the arcade game I nearly freaked out. My favorite arcade game I could play on my NES!

The game itself is simple, it's a beat-em-up like Double Dragon. You choose one of the four Turtles to be, it really doesn't matter cuz they are all the same. The game is structured around hit points. Your basic attack does two points, the jump kick does three, and your special attack(A&B at the same time) does four. To give you an idea on how tough the enemies are, a foot soldier has four hit points, and most bosses have around one-hundred to one-fifty.

The game is much like the arcade game with a few exceptions, some good, some bad, first the bad, no 4 player support! Wouldn't it be awsome if this game worked with the Four Score? Second, there was a big downsize in the graphics department, but that was inevitable.

Now the good, Well for one, you have two brand-spankin' new levels! And actually, they are pretty good, the first one is a park after it's been iced over by a weather control machine. There are some new enemies in this level, like foot soldiers that throw snowballs, and snowmen that shoot homing missles out of there noses. The boss of this level is Tora, a big polar bear guy in a leather jacket. The second new level is some kind of ninja dojo, this level is pretty tough. There are seveal new enemies in this level. The first one is a big muscular ninja-looking guy. The second is a stone tiger, he is probably the hardest foe in the game. Thank god you only fight 2 of them. And also there are some new robo scorpions that shoot tail lasers and crap like that. The boss of this level is Shogun a Samurai, that has carries a long Japanese spear(I forget what the spear is called).

Oh, yeah his head comes off and attacks you too. Another plus of the home version is that you don't have to put in quarters to play...I guess.

Graphics Music Sound Control Overall
This game definately took a graphics downgrade on the home version. I give it a 6 The music is taken straight from the arcade, it sounds pretty good, but far from perfect. I give it a 7 Considering most of the enemies are robots, the sound that you hear when you hit them doesn't fit very well. I give it a 7 Pretty much flawless,I give it a 9 If you were a Turtles fan as a kid, this is a must have. Other wise it's not that big of a deal. I give it a seven
