Hmm... no real news, but I've been thinking about something! IGN64, N64 Underground, and Nintendojo have all given Zelda perfect ratings! As well as Famitsu and Next-Generation gaming magazines! And even IGNPSX admitted it "Game of the Century"! Do I see a trend developing here? I think I do.November 25th, 1998
Yes!!! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has remotivated sales in Japan!!! Stores are running out, lines are forming, games and consoles flying off the shelves!!! Zelda, the greatest game ever made, has recranked Nintendo's Japanese engine.Novenber 24th, 1998
Wow!!! IGN64 put up their review of Zelda today!! Guess what they gave it? 10.0 in every catagorie, except Lasting Appeal, where it got 9.0. DEFINETLY not one to sell, but you won't play through it over and over and over and over... And Overall: 10.0. Thank you very much. To compare, the highest rating they've ever given is a 9.7.Z-Day
is released!! Go buy it now for 70 bucks!!!
On an unimportant side note, IGN64 reports they are 60 hours into the game and are still going strong. Heh.November 22nd, 1998
Wow, this is impressive news!!! IGN64 reported that they are more than 20 hours into the game, and they still have a LONG way to go. So, this should confirm our hopes that the game will be epic. Rejoice, gamers!!!November 21st, 1998
Japanese gamers, rejoice!!! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released upon hungry Japanese gamers today. Are you gonna import it? I'm not, cause I'd get it later than the 23rd anyway, it'd cost more, it'd be a hassle, I'd get a grey copy, and it'd be in the wrong language. Anyway, this should help the N64s fly off the shelves in Japan, restarting Nintendo's frozen engine over there. I'll try to get a sales figure soon. 2 more days my friends, 2 more days...November 20th, 1998
Guess what? Zelda ships today. Yes, you heard me right. As we speak, an airplane is carrying the holy game over to us. And(here's the good part), some retailers will be getting the game out as early as !!!! YOU HEARD RIGHT!!!! This is good news... VERY good, yes... I suggest you call your retailer tommorow and ask! And do that everyday till you get it, too.November 19th, 1998
A Nintendo insider has revealed a piece of info- Nintendo plans to ship 5 million Zelda games by the end of January. In case you didn't know, that's alot. A heckuva lot. Most games don't sell one million- period. And also, the big goofy website known as IGN64 has tons of new screenshots and movies (20 new movies!!!!) from the completed US version of Miyamoto's new masterpiece. The movies even have music and sound right from the game! Time to start downloadin'!
November 18th, 1998
Today is a pretty good one for news. To start us off, Nintendo Power Source has a new interview with God-er, Shigeru Miyamoto. As another great piece of info. Matt, the big goofy IGN64 goon, has written an extensive hands-on Zelda preview. Here it is!
Miyamoto has said that if 66DD doesn't reach our doors, then "If that happens and we cannot introduce this second
game, we may have to have a special edition release in the future." Cool, eh?
November 17th, 1998
Zelda is incredible- it's preorders alone. Over 325,000 pre sale tickets have been passed out for the greatest game of all time, swamping Diddy Kong Racing's record of 125,000. As our main man, Shigeru Miyamoto put it, ""While video games have always provided an interactive experience, they
have never been truly immersive – until now. "New technology creates new opportunities.
We can still feel the danger and excitement of a main character while he
battles an enemy. But with more life-like animations and complete 3-D
worlds, for the first time we can also begin to feel the hero’s fear, his
frustration, his confusion and his elation as he journeys through a
360-degree world in service of his princess." Oh yeah. MMM! CaN YOU FEEL iT?! zELDA! MMMJust 6 days left...

Link VS Samus. If that's not scary, what is? Actually, it's a screen shot from the Nintendo fighting game, Nintendo All-Star
Dai-Rantou Smash
Brothers :-)
November 16th, 1998
Little new stuff today either!! Let's have the info, people!!! Anyhow, remember the fire dragon? The name has been revealed!!! It is: Volvagia. Good then. My monster list can be more complete :-)Also, tommorow I might go to Toys R Us and see if they have Zelda out for playing! If they do, I'll be sure to write an extensive report :-)
November 15th, 1998
Ho hum... you'd think with the game a week away, SOME new stuff would be said... ho hum...November 14th, 1998
It has been confirmed that some old english (like ye, thou, thee) is used in the game, but that it fits in well with the atmosphere and doesn't annoy.November 13th, 1998
We've all heard that Super Mario 64 used a mere 60% of it's available 64 MB. Amazingly, our main game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time uses upward of 90% of it's 256 MB!! Amazing!!On a great side note, Famitsu, a highly respected Japanese gaming magazine, gave Zelda 64 the highest rating ever. All 4 editors gave it a perfect 10. 10 10 10 10. The only game ever to score like that. To compare, Super Mario 64 got three 10s and a 9, and Final Fantasy VII got two 10s and two 9s.
November 12th, 1998
"Nintendo is aiming to strike a blow at
arch-rival Sony with The Legend of Zelda: The
Ocarina of Time." At least, that's what Time Magazine has to say about Miyamoto's Masterpiece. Thank you very much. One another note, Next-Generation, a respected gaming magazine, awarded The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time a perfect
five star rating. Not impressed? Well, they also hailed it
the 'Game of the Century'. That has to be an honor,
even for the the higher ups at Nintendo, considering Next-Gen doesn't throw around
such praise often. Stick that in your PlayStation and smoke it.November 11th, 1998
One great piece of news to start us off. Koji Kondo, Nintendo's main music man, has mysteriously been absent for N64. Thus explaining the racket found in Yoshi's Story. Anyhow, he has NOT left Nintendo, he has just been devoting his time into composing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's tunes! So all I have to say is, I can garuntee a rich, grand, epic soundtrack to go along with the game. And as we're on the subject of sounds...I have learned from a particular source that the beeping that begins when your life is low in the other Zelda games is in here. Don't you remember staring Zelda III down with red eyes, muttering "Must.... stop.... beeping.... find.... heart...."? Well, your beloved beeping is back! I know we are all so pleased. (sob)

Oh my god. It's finally happened. A Mario fighting game. And worst of all it's called Nintendo All-Star Dai-Rantou Smash Brothers. Geez! It'll be fought in 3D arenas, ones straight out of Miyamoto's games. It will feature characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and of course, the reason it belongs here, it has Link as an available fighter. This will mark Link's 7th game appearance. The Legend of Zelda series, Donkey Kong Country 2 (yes, he's in there!) and this. Geez! A fighting game... that's my most hated genre...Novenber 9th, 1998
This is not true Zelda 64 news, but it is Zelda related, so it belongs here. As we know, on the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Nintendo makes a double whammie by releasing Game Boy Color. This stunning work of art has a total of more than 32,000 colors to choose from, and can display 56 on screen. It is faster, more powerful, and more impressive than the original, and put Sega's handheld system to shame(like the original Gameboy didn't do that anyway). The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening will be rereleased for this new system, with full color, new items and secrets, new music and sound, and best of all, a new dungeon! Here are some pictures from the new dungeon!!!!!!

November 8th, 1998
I recieved my issue of IGN64's magazine, IGN64: The Magazine! On the cover it has Link battling some monsters, and in it's depths, it has several pages of Zelda info, storylines for the first 4 games, and strategy, going up through Zora's River. Hats of to IGN64. Well, tommorow, it will be just a mere 2 weeks till Miyamoto's new masterpiece!! I can't wait!!November 7th, 1998
16 days remaining till the magic! Anyway, even if ye snoozed, ye didn't lose yet. If you haven't preordered Zelda, and wish to subscribe to
Nintendo Power call 1-800-255-3700 and ask for offer
#3144, and you could get, for $75, a golden The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
game, a Zelda Players guide, and a year subscription to
Nintendo Power. But this is only for the fools that didn't
preorder early enough and like to cheat. I would recommend you don't use the guide and ruin the experience for yourself. Don't snooze anymore! Ye snooze, ye lose.November 6th, 1998
Welcome back to the Daily Hylian News Document! Anyway, today, the 60 second Zelda trailer was put in the previews on 11,000 theaters. And since The Water Boy came out today, perfect timing! The newspaper gave it ONE STAR!!! Gotta go see that one :-) But, the Zelda preview'll make it all worth it. Download it below (October 31st) if you haven't yet. November 5th, 1998
18 days is a long time... anyway, last night I was watching TV and suddenly a Zelda ad came up :-) It has flaming background, the sound was turned down pretty low but I think a midevil soundtrack, and it said "Hear ye, hear ye." "On November 23rd," "Zelda arrives." "So go ye forth," "And kick some tail." then is flashed scenes from the game for several seconds. After that, it flashes the world famous logo, then the words The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time against a black background, then against flame again, "Zelda, have ye what it takes?" and "November 23rd" with the "Get N or get out" logo down below. Cool, eh?November 4th, 1998
Australian gamers, rejoice! Over there, when Zelda comes out, all, yes all games will be gold! No need to preorder! I guess this is feedback for getting the game delayed to late December.
Ye Snoozed, Ye Loozed.
For us American and Canadian gamers, if you haven't reserved your copy
copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time yet, don't count
on getting your copy gold.
Due to an overwhelming demand for
Nintendo's flagship title, major retailers
across the US including Electronics
Boutique officially dropped their Zelda 64
reserve offer today. The deal, which
served up a limited edition gold cartridge of
Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to Nintendo 64
owners who reserved the game early, was an overwhelming success. In
fact, according to retail employees, the offer was so
successful that they aren't sure if Nintendo will be able to meet demand
for the cartridges already reserved.
You determined you're still gonna get a gold one? I dare ya. It'll be tight---but not impossible.
Meanwhile, a Nintendo spokesperson reassured us that all possible is being
done to deliver Zelda into the hands of hungry Nintendo 64 owners.
"Demand is huge. We anticipate selling two million units by the end of the
year and we are doing everything we can to fulfill demand." So, you haven't reserved your game yet? Stop bawling and wailing at the computer screen... well.... actually go on ahead.

As a side note, IGN64 put up their monthly N64 gaming guide today. What scored game of the month? SUPRISE SUPRISE! The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time pulled all stops. Here's what they had to say about it:
"To nobody's surprise, our recommended Game of the Month is
Nintendo's own Ocarina of Time. After numerous delays, Miyamoto's
latest installment in the Zelda series hits home in full 3D. Was it worth the
wait? Imagine a vast 3D universe with dungeons and villages to explore,
hundreds of creatures, both friendly and evil, weapons ranging from
swords to boomerangs, beautiful 3D graphics without a trace of fogging,
an epic score with familiar melodies from the original Zelda games... Was
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time worth the wait, you ask? We can tell
you this: when it hits stores in November, Zelda 64 will redefine the
action-RPG genre. There is no other adventure game that can even come
close to deliver the satisfaction of exploring a free 3D world and
interacting with almost every object you see. Zelda 64 presents the
culmination of Nintendo's best design efforts, with ingeniously designed
puzzles, lots of mini-games, charming characters and an epic feel that
links together the whole series. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is --
without a doubt -- the best N64 game ever. A milestone of adventure
gaming."

There have been rumors, but not really for sure yet, that there will only be a mere 2,000,000 gold cartridges painted. About 200,000 have been spoken for (which breaks every previous pre-sale record, by the way) so ya might wanna preorder before it's too late! Go! Shoo! Preorder!!Anyway, today I received my new issue of Nintendo Power, and they had a review and strategy on Zelda. TOO MUCH strategy. For the record, I didn't read it, for it ripped the game to shreds, you could tell. Anyway, in the 8 pages they covered the first 3 dungeons. Here is how they rated it. With it, came a huge poster (very cool) with Link and Sheik battling Ganondorf's army, and a supply catalog, from which you could get the action figures, t-shirts, sweatshirts, watches, pendants, and much, much, more about Zelda 64!!! Even the soundtrack and player's guide...
November 2nd, 1998
Aha! You say that all this stuff about Zelda being 60 hours play time is trash? Check this out:The 256 Megabit cart is
said to take 40 hours to complete... and
that's for skilled gamers who do everything
right the first time through. To prove this
fact further, Nintendo taped one of its
skilled game-testers playing through the game
after he had already beaten it five times. It
took him 40 hours.
There you have it. HA!

The magical month has arrived. Remember those early shots?

Think about how much we've advanced since those! I remember first reading the words "Now that Miyamoto has put the finishing touches on Mario 64, he's gearing up for Zelda 64." Now, more than 2 years later, it's all falling into place. Anyway, Zelda on display at stores has been delayed to early November, but I would predict sometime this week. Unfortunetly, the games will be rigged to reset every 15 minutes or so, but it's better that way. We can just touch the game enough to realize it's the most majestic adventure of all time, but not ruin the experience.
