Covering a period of seven years, the main character, Link, must travel back and forth though time to rewrite the past to alter the future by otaining the Triforce. However, the Gerudo, Ganondorf (Ganon) stands in the way. There are also a few plot twists and surprises. This game has 3 dungeons and five temples in which you must solve intricate and sometimes very difficult puzzles. Each has a different theme like water, fire, earth, shadow, and spirit. Link must find three swords, shields, tunics, and boots. Also, there is a load of various other items such as the slingshot, bombs, boomerang, hookshot, bow and arrows, hammer, magic spells, and more. Some of these items are weapons, some are magic powers, and some have special abilities like the Mask of Truth. There is also an ocarina from which you can play twelve songs which have various magical effects such ascausing the sun to rise. There is also a horse, named Epona, who will help you get places with much greater speed. The amount of detail put into this game is huge! The world is equally impressive. Besides the eight dungeons, there are many areas such as Kokiri Forest, Hyrule Castle, Lon Lon Ranch, Kakariko Village, Death Mountain, Goron City, Zora's Domain, and Gerudo Valley to name a few. Many of these areas have games, shop, diferent characters, and secrets. You also return to the world seven years later and find it drastically changed. The scenery and characters will look different and there will be new things to do. This game has a load of mini-games. There are two shooting galleries (one for slingshot and one for arrows), Bombachu Bowling Alley, the treasure chest game, the diving game, horse racing, marathon and various other games. There also also many items to collect such as Skulltulas, heart containers, and special items. With the 8 dungeons, varied loctations, secrets, puzzles, good graphics and detail, this is definitely the best game on Nintendo 64.
