"Thou shalt not plagiarize others' work by
claiming it as thy own, even if thou adaptest it to thy own needs or recreatest it. And
before thou makest free with anothers' creation, thou shouldst *ask for permission* from
the copyright holder and abide by his or her rules."
~~thus spake Moyra~~
You remember the Golden Rule, Do Unto Others? Well Netiquette is like just that, to be a
good netizen means that you treat others the way you want to be treated.
Being a Web Guard member means you realize that it is wrong to
'steal' bandwidth, or disregard copyrights.
Linking directly to anothers graphics is 'stealing'
bandwidth. This doesn't mean providing a link to a page, but having the grapic load
to your page from theirs.
A group formed that delves into the question of whether or not
copyright laws are valid on the Internet when it pertains to art, graphics and even
writing.
WARP is a group of web citizens who
inform artists of linkbacks to their sites so that the problem can be delt with.
