Pokemon Gym Leaders
In the world of Pokemon, there are many Pokemon Trainers who raise Pokemon for fighting. Only 8 of these trainers are considered to be Pokemon Leaders. You can find these leaders hanging out in local gyms, training their Pokemon to become stronger.
These leaders are waiting for anyone who wannts to challenge them.k In order to completer yoour Pokedex, you must fight these leaders.

Brock: Pewter City

Pokemon:
Geodude - Level 12
Onix - Level 14

Badge:
Boulder badge - The Boulderbadge will give all your Pokemon a small boost in power. It will also combine with a Hidden Machine you'll find later and allow you to teach your Pokemon the FLASH ability.
Strategy:
Charmander's Fire-based powers will not make a dent in Brock's Rock-type Pokemon. If you don't have a squirtle or Bulbasaur, Pikachu will be your best bet. Build Pikachu to at least level 16 before you face Brock.

Misty: Cerulean City

Pokemon:
Staryu - Level 18
Starmie - Level 21

Badge:
Cascade Badge - Pokemon up to level 30 obey you. Any, higher they are unruly! This badge can also be combined with a Hidden Machine you'll find later to gain CUT.
Strategy:
Staryu and Starmie are Water-type Pokemon, and Bulbasaur (which will likely evolved into Ivysaur by now) is your best bet. If you don't have Bulbasaur, any Electric-or Grass-type Pokemon will do.

Lt. Surge: Vermilion City

Pokemon:
Voltorb - Level 21
Pikachu - Level 18
Raichu - Level 24

Badge:
Thunder Badge - The speed of all Pokemon increases a little. It lets you use FLY any time.
Strategy:
Your best bet against Voltorb, Pikachu and Raichu is a Ground-type Pokemon. Water- Electric- and Flying-type Pokemon won't do well at all.

Pokemon:
Victreebel - Level 26
Tangela - Level 24
Vileplume - Level 29

Badge:
Rainbow Badge - With the Rainbowbadge in hand, all of your Pokemon up to experience level 50 will always obey you.
Strategy:
I suggest a Fire- or Flying-type Pokemon. You should probably have your Pokemon up to at least level 30 or higher.

Mr. Mime - Level 37
Venomoth - Level 38
Alakazam - Level 43

Badge:
Marsh Badge - This badge will ensure that any of your Pokemon up to level 70 will obey you in combat.
Strategy:
Bug- and Ghost-type Pokemon are your best bet agains Sabrina's psychic-type Pokemon. There's no cure for Confusion except time. As soon as one Pokemon Becomes Confused, swap it for another one.

Soul Badge - The Soul Badge slightly boosts the Defense rateing of all your Pokemon.
