What is RoD?

The Realms of the Dragon is considered one of the best LPMUDs out on the internet. The Realms of the Dragon, or RoD, is located at the University of MICHIGAN in Dearborn(but the Ann Arbor U of M is better though). The Realms of the Dragon was also featured in a book called NetGames and Netgames 2. I like to think of it as a game combined with a chatroom. You can talk to others while slaying dragons. Now you may ask what a MUD is. It is a Multi-User-Dimension. In Common English it means a place where many people can meet over telnet(part of the internet) and communicate. MUD is also called Multi-User-Dungeon because the people meet to not just communicate, but to also play a Role-Playing Game. Role-playing games or RPG are games which the user is a person with status like Hit points, Experience, Levels; and the user goes around killing creatures to get experience, and advance his/her level.

  • Maps

Talis's RoD page - He used to have the most RoD maps. Maps on his page: The Elven Forest| Thelbane Forest| Dunress Pass| Treemalking Forest| Valeris Forest| Lirath| Iapage| Hylar| Rhone| KT| Pesvint

Here's some maps not included in Talis's collection:

    The encampment
Minas's Map Page has all of the Realm mapped out, except for the seas, you will never get lost again. There's also an overall map, and all maps come in text or jpg files. This is the best site you can find for maps.

Things to do as a Paladin

    I. The Paladin Castle

All I may say is this: It is south of Lirath.

    II. The Holy Avenger

    A. How to get Avenger

  • From Junicar, e, 2up, type "pray".
  • From Eliana at the Paladin Castle, type "pray"
  • With the avenger, type "setname ", then what you want to name your avenger
  • B. Advance Avenger status- need to own avenger first

  • From Junicar, e, 2up, type "powerup" to advance the avenger's level
  • From Eliana, type "powerup" to advance the avenger's level
  • To enchant your sword, from Eliana, s, e, type "pray"
  • To see your avenger's level, type "avenger_status". Your avenger can go up to 8/8/8, enchant: 50. There are up to three attacks to an avenger, each 8 stands for the attack power.
  • C. Avenger Holding Options- need to own avenger first

  • The two-handed avenger increases your XP, attack, and parry. From Eliana, type "holding options", but it costs 300,000 XP to learn.
  • Type "limb 1" for one hand, and "limb 2" for two hands.
  • D. Circle of Power- need to own avenger first

  • From Eliana, s, e, and the screen description should tell you what to type next to get it. It costs 600,000 XP to do it though.
  • Type "raise avenger" to activate. But your good alignment must be more good than another person's bad alignment's badness. For example if Mr. DK has an alignment of bad, and I have a alignment of very good, then the circle of power works. If Mr. DK has an alignment of extremely bad, and I have an alignment of very good, then it won't work.
  • The circle of power's power is increase in faith.spells.misc.area.
  • Finally the function of the circle of power is to destory all summonings, magic defenses, including yourself's. This doesn't include your warhorse.

  • Glow's Advancement Plan

My advance plan is based on fighting, because that's what gets you XP. You can change it a bit, but make sure you have high sharp, special, and fa.sp.d.self.

    1. Advance fighting to 5
    2. Advance fighting.combat by 5
    3. Advance fighting.combat.melee by 5
    4. Advance fighting.combat.melee.sharp to 100
    5. Powerup your avenger to a 8/8/8
    6. Max fighting.combat.melee.sharp
    7. Get two-handed avenger (300,000 or 600,000 XP)
    8. Advance faith to 5
    9. Advance faith.spells by 5
    10. Advance faith.spells.defensive by 5
    11. Advance faith.spells.defensive self by 5
    12. Max faith.spells.defensive.self, and get your SoF
    13. Max fighting.combat.melee
    14. Max fighting.combat.parry (Many people disagree with this, saying that parrying isn't good for a paladin, but if your dex is good, you may gain an advantage, and you can get XP quicker)
    15. Max faith.spells.defensive, and get Crusade
    16. Max fighting.combat.special
    17. Max faith.spells.curing.self
    18. Max faith.spells.curing.self
    19. Max fighting.combat
    20. Max fighting
    21. Max fighting.points (if you really needed HP before, you could advance points by 5-15 at any time)
    22. Max faith.spells.misc and get your horse
    23. Max faith.spells
    24. Max faith
    25. Max faith.points
    26. Advance general to 5
    27. Advance general.movement by 5
    28. Max general.movement.riding, and watch your levels fly up
    29. Max general.movement.swimming
    30. Advance general.smithing by 5
    31. Max general.smithing.weapons, and general.smithing.armour
    32. Max out the rest any way you like, but do general first.

You don't get a good punish or charge or a lot of GP untill the end of the plan. This makes you pretty much defenseless, but you'll get XP more easily. Avoid any trouble and try to stay out of wars, you could get killed easily. Once riding is maxed, you're basically as tough as a maxed person, just lower leveled.

    Where to Hunt

Remember, these levels apply to my advancement plan.

    LevelsPlace
    0-5Newbie Gardens, Newbie Swamp
5-15Kobolds, Pesvint, Hylar(becareful), goblin tunnels, encampment
    16-50Pesvint, Kai-thaan, Hylar
    >51Hylar, fight: in moat, red guardsman, barracks, orc commoner, judge, officers
