Boldavian Vodka (4 sp/glass in Glantri)

This extremely strong liquor derived from potatoes is very common throughout Boldavia and in the coldest regions of Glantri. It is exported to other countries, most notably Darokin, Wendar and Karameikos, where its price is usually doubled. Too many drinks of Boldavian vodka can give nasty hangovers to those not used at it.

Buchs Beer (4 sp/mug)

The most famous and renowned lager of the Thyatian Empire. Brewed since the eighth century by the Buchs family in Hattias, its sweet but strong taste has conquered the world markets and has made the Buchs dinasty a legend.

Cadel & Corser, or C&C (5 sp/glass)

The most famous Minrothaddan brandy, this is very popular among the low and middle-classes. Though inferior to the Glantrian brandy, its low price makes it much more inviting to everyone who wants to drink a good brandy without spending a fortune.

Chateau Sylaire (30 gp/bottle)

A refined sparkling white for the most exclusive people, this Averoignese wine is sold by the bottle to noble houses ONLY. Throughout the Old World it is a symbol of power and wealth that is jealously guarded: some of the oldest vintages are now a real treasure (according to some rumors, a bottle of Chateau Sylaire of year 953 was sold to the Duke of Kerendas for no less than 300 lucins!).

Corser Special (6 sp/mug)

A strange beverage produced in Minrothad by the Corser Guild, it is made by mixing rhum, mead and a secret ingredient. The result is an incredibly sweet and dense liquor which is highly alcoholic but also highly nutritive. Usually drunk by sailors and heavy workers instead of a normal dinner.

Crownguard Black Label (7 sp/glass)

One of the strongest liquors of the Known World, this brew's recipe comes directly from the McGregors' homeworld and is a prized family secret. Exported throughout the world, its bitter taste is best loved by the inhabitants of Klantyre however.

De Ponti Red (1 gp/glass)

Produced by the De Ponti vineyards in Kerendas, this is "the Emperors' wine", as the slogan goes. A red sparkling wine with a soft and sweet taste, it is sold ONLY inside the borders of the Empire and it's an acknowledged status symbol in Thyatis.

Dragon Ale

The strongest ale served in Threshold and most likely in the entire Karameikos. It comes in three different kinds: Gold Dragon, a lager (4 sp/mug), Red Dragon, a red beer (5 sp/mug), and Black Dragon, a stout (6 sp/ mug).

Duke's Fountain (6 sp/glass)

A common white wine produced by the Retebius Vineyards in Thyatis and exported worldwide. This cheap wine has a sweet delicate taste that appeals both to refined palates and seasoned drinkers.

Dwarven Ale (5 sp/mug in Rockhome)

Imported from Rockhome, it is probably the strongest and most potent Ale around. Dwarves from Rockhome will always prefer it to anything else, claiming that all other Ales taste like dirty water. Non-Dwarves (and those not from Rockhome) are more likely to get drunk on less. Generally 1.5 to 2 times more expensive than regular ales (except in Rockhome, where its the only Ale you can find.)

It is rumored that certain species of mushroom or other fungus are an important flavor and potency-adding ingredients in this beverage. It is also rumored that dwarf brewers are not permitted to leave dwarven strongholds without a fanatic military guard that is under orders to defend the brewer against all threats and to kill him if it appears that they cannot prevent his capture. Of course, these are only rumors.

Dwarven Spirit (8 sp/glass)

Certainly one of the three most potent and stunning liquors of the Old World, the Dwarven Spirit is drunk everywhere in the continent (and everywhere it produces the same troublesome hangovers to the unexperienced drinkers -even to dwarves!).

Elton's Spring Ale (3 sp/mug)

Made in Elton's Spring, a small village north of Threshold, this red ale is a bit sweeter than other ales due to the added fruit juice.

Elvish Mead

Mead is any wine made with honey providing the bulk of fermentables instead of grape juice.

The types of mead are as follows:

Common Mead: Honey and water. (3 sp/mug)

Metheglin: Honey, water, and spices. (6 sp/mug)

Cyser: Honey, apple juice, and water. (4 sp/mug)

Pyment: Honey, pear juice, and water. (5 sp/mug)

Hippocras: Spiced cyser or pyment. (7 sp/mug)

Finnegar's (4 sp/mug)

The Old World most famous stout, produced on the Isle of Dawn mixing special malt and hop. Considering the price/quality ratio, it's probably the best brown beer around, favoured by both thyatians and alphatians of the Isle of Dawn.

Glantrian Amber (4 sp/mug)

Quite good lager brewed in Averoigne, it is especially cheap and favored by thirsty travelers for its low alcoholic rate.

Glantrian Brandy (1 gp/glass)

Considered the drink of special occasions favored by Glantrian noblemen. It is grown and raised and bred in Averoigne in limited quantities (making it a rarity).

Glimmerwine (10 gp/bottle)

A recent "novelty" item, brewed by an anonymous low-level mage in the south of New Averoigne, this beverage is only average in quality. What makes it unique is the liberal application of Continual Light spells to the vines, grapes, and wine itself during the fermentation. Which adds up to a shimmering pink-to-reddish light shining from every bottle. It's replacing candles as the centrepiece-of-choice in romantic restaurants in Glantri City.

One slight unforseen side effect is that after copious quantities are drunk in a short time, the imbiber develops a faint sheen to his skin, outlining him quite distinctly in the dark for members of the Unseen Hand. (As a novelty item, it is expensive, and anybody who can afford more than two bottles is an excellent target, especially after he's drank them..)

Halfling Cider (2 sp/mug)

Very cheap and sweet beverage with a low alcohol rate popular in the Shires and in Darokin.

Hattian Kirschwasser (3 sp/glass)

A liquor distilled from cherries and mixed with hop derivates: highly alcoholic and greatly prized by all Hattians.

JD 20-20 or "Jolly Dwarf" (5 sp/mug)

From The Vineyard Vales in Soderfjord. It's a cheap and sweet wine that delivers a powerful wallop. This is a type of mead that mixes honey and grape juice (the process is called "fortification of meads"). It also delivers a hangover that can leave the most hardened warriors beating and pleading for mercy.

Johnny Stalker's (6 sp/glass)

A strong whiskey brewed in Darokin using barley and rye fermented musts, it is the most famous and consumed liquor inside the Republic.

Kathrakallia's Finest Plum Brandy (2 gp/glass)

This smooth brandy is made from only the choicest plums grown in the orchards just east of the Alphatian city of Eagret, in the kingdom of Greenspur. The process is also aided by so-called "vintnomancers" -wizards who have turned their magical prowess primarily to the production of better wines, but also to other beverages such as brandy and ale.

Although large volumes are produced, this concoction has pretty much been designated for export only. It is possible to find in the larger cities of the Alphatian Empire, where prices are often twice as high as the listed price given above. The drink is well known for its mellowing qualities - ideal for drinking while relaxing by a fireplace on a cold winter's night.

Liquid Metal

There are four different types of this kind of wine: liquid copper (10 gp), liquid silver (20 gp), liquid gold (30 gp), and liquid platinum (40 gp). All four of these are considered excellent wines and normally can only be bought by the bottle. The downside of the liquid gold and the liquid platinum is that there is a chance of addiction involved.

Makai Rhum (5 sp/mug)

Brewed in Ierendi by distillating the molasses of the sugarcane, it is the favored beverage of the toughest seamen. Exported to almost every nation of the world (as far as Bellissaria to the east and the Savage Coast to the west), its sweet taste is unmistakable.

Marilenev Red and Marilenev White (20 gp/bottle in Karameikos)

Made from the grapes grown by the Marilenev Vineyards. The grapes are exceptional due to the existence of a small microclimate focused on the site of Marilenev Village: they get 50% more sunshine a year than the surrounding areas. They are both extremely tasteful wines. The Red is an especially dry wine, and is favoured by Kings and Nobles the world over. Tends to be significantly more expensive than other wines (even in Specularum), and more so the farther away you get from the source. Served in the most luxurious restaurants, it can be only bought by the bottle.

McDougall Scotch (3 sp/glass)

Another common beverage from Klantyre, this whiskey is very popular among the commoners for its low price and its side effects (it keeps really warm, especially in the long cold winter nights). Not really tasteful but rather a warming beverage.

Mustard Ale (8 sp/mug)

A special drink created in and served at the Mustard Ale Inn and Tavern (located on South Street in Biazzan). A favorite among locals it has a very dry, spicy taste to it.

Nob Nar's Prize (6 gp/glass)

The most exclusive wine produced in the Shires comes as red or white wine. The white quality is especially used with seafood in the nations bordering the Sea of Dread.

Ochalean Liquor (7 sp/glass)

Brewed in Ochalea using different kinds of plants and spices, this liquor (whose color is normally red or green) has an unmistakable strong alcohol taste and is not commonly consumed in great quantities (unless one needs to pass out quickly).

Ochalean Wine (2 sp/cup)

This ricewine, commonly called saké, is rather inexpensive, very strong but actually tasteless. Popular only in Ochalea, where it is served in teacups.

Shireton Special (5 sp/mug)

A strong but delicious lager produced with the best hop grown in the Five Shires. This beverage is common among the seafarers of the Sea of Dread and is renowned for its taste in all the nearby nations, including Ierendi and Minrothad.

Slug Milk (1 gp/flask)

This milky beverage is made from great underground slugs and is normally drunk by shadowelves and other creatures living underground (it has great nutritive properties). The dwarves of Rockhome also know how to prepare it, but normally use it only when they're forced underground for long periods as a surrogate of water.

Sulfur Water (2 gp/bottle)

This water has special healing properties and is used to purify the organism and to help digestion. It can be still or sparkling, depending on the spring, and has usually an unpleasant smell (often accompanied by an unpleasant taste).

Valkas Balsams (1 ep/bottle outside Littonia)

Few drinks are quite as ambiguous as Valkas Balsams, which is made in the Littonian town of Valka, in the northwestern region of the country. Few outsiders who drink it are sure whether it is a form of liquor, moonshine, or some other potent drink. The only thing most drinkers can be sure about is that this drink is so bitter that it will cleanse your palate of anything else, and has been known to cure the worst hangovers, by replacing it with something even worse.

This drink is freely available in Littonia; in fact, most local farmers produce their own. It is Valkas Balsams, however, in its trademarked dark brown clay bottle sealed with wax, that most drinkers will recognize on sight. It is made from a combination of various fermented berries, as well as herbs (the result being an almost black liquid substance). Many Littonians use balsams for medicinal purposes, saying that it can ease the pain of arthritis, as well as fight off colds.

Vestland Dark Ale (6 sp/mug)

A rich brown ale with a nutty flavor. Quite popular in the Northern Reaches but a tad expensive.

Wereskalot Whitewater (6 sp/glass)

Another liquor derived from potatoes with some spices added during the distillation, the Wereskalot Whitewater (also called hin vodka) is very popular in the Five Shires and in Karameikos.

Zzonga Liquor (40 gp/bottle)

This extremely sweet liquor is secretly brewed in Alphatia, where it is officially illegal, and is exported in some of the wealthiest nations of the Old World. It is especially dangerous since it can induce addiction and leave the drinker in a cataleptic state for days. It has a devastating effect on spellcasters' abilities and mind.
