Awarded to marines who put themselves in harms way during battle to achieve a mission objective or protecting his/her command, above and beyond the call of duty. (Eg. Holding a tunnel intersection against a larger force of attackers until the rest of the unit escapes or defending those trapped there until reinforcements arrive).
