Casio Model Features

Many Casio BOSS models exist.  Some are current, and many are no longer in production.  The following is a list, prepared by Ian Laverty, of the various features found amongst these models - their differances and similarites.
  • Memory size: ranges from 8 Kb to 256 Kb
  • Display size: ranges from 4 lines x 20 characters to 10 x 40 (NX screens are a different than SF screens)
  • Display backlight for low-light viewing on some recent models
  • "Color" display: CSF models and NX-4000
  • Keyboard: button (more tactile) or membrane (more compact)
  • Separate numeric keypad (on top half) on many recent models
  • Modes selected by icon menu on some new models or separate buttons on the keyboard (older models)
  • Casio plug-in memory and program cards on some older models SF-R10/R20/9000/9500/9700)
  • Infrared communications (one children's model only!)
  • Batteries: mini button batteries (smaller models), or full size AA or AAA batteries (larger models)
  • Separate business telephone list or business card data type on some models
  • Free files for long memos (SF-R20 series only)
  • Reminders (older models didn't have them)
  • Enhanced reminders on some models (SF-R20 series only?)
  • Term schedule items on some models (SF-9000 series and SF-R10/R20/M10 only?)
  • Expense items (older models didn't have them)
  • ToDo items (older models didn't have them)
  • Built-in Lucid-3D spreadsheet (SF-R10/R20/M10 and SF-8500)
  • Pen-based interface and graphics sketches (NX series only)
  • Models in the same Series can exchange data (SF-A, SF-5X80 and SF-5X90 are unique and can exchange data only that series (i.e. cannot exchange data with older SF models)
