Advancing Counter Guard (3P When Blocking)

To throw some distance between you and your opponents, you can press 3P when blocking your opponent's attack. This will push your opponent away from you and the best part is, you will not suffer any blocking damages!

Variable Counter (BD + 3+6)

This is a quick defensive counter attack where your "recharging" character will leap out and defend your current character and leap back after deflecting the attack. BE WARNED! If you try this out when the opponent is using a fireball super, both your characters are finished!

Variable Assistance (2+5)

This is a new & interesting feature of Marvel Super Heroes Vs Street Fighters. When this move is executed, your partner will leap onto the screen and perform a move (eg. Hadouken, Berserker Barrage) depending on the characters. After your partner has finished, he will leap off the screen.

One of my favourites is Wolverine and Ryu. When Wolverine can't get near an opponent, Ryu will leap onto the screen with a Hadouken when 2+5 are pressed.

Variable Attack (3+6) & The Life Bar

Any excellent FAQ will focus on this very important aspect of this game. There is no point being able to execute unlimited air combos if you cannot master this move.

When you press 3+6 to change to your other character, you are actually exposing your character to the unsuspecting unlimited air combo! Let me explain in more detail.

When you press 3+6, your current character will go into his/her exit pose (where he/she is INVULNERABLE) and just as he/she flies off the screen,.his/her partner will fly in with a jump kick. This is where all the problems begin. After the jump kick, this character will go into his/her welcome pose (where he/she is VULNERABLE). If the opponent is able to block the jump kick, this will give it the chance to retaliate and attack the incoming character when he/she is in his/her welcome pose! If the opponent is able to execute the unlimited air combo, your character is finished!

There has been a slight change to the Variable Attack in Marvel Super Heroes Vs Street Fighters. Unlike X-Men Vs Street Fighters, this time, your partner will jump in at whatever angle that will hit your opponent. A simple and effective way of switching players is by launching your opponent and switch so that your partner will hit the launched opponent.

After your character has sustained heavy damage, its life bar will shrink down. The red bar is the total amount of life left and the green bar is the current life left. When your character is off the screen, its life bar will "recharge" to and your character's life will increase until the red bar is full. If you change characters while your character is "recharging", you will forfeit the chance of "recharging" the remaining part of the red bar as the total life bar will shrink to whatever length you have "recharged" to! This is also another reason why some players lose the game and wonder what happens to remaining portion of the red bar.

So, my advice is simple:

1) Do not swap characters until the "recharging" character has been fully "recharged"

and

2) Do not let one character sustain too much damage so that this character will have a shorter "recharging" period and you will be able to swap characters once again without having to wait too long!

Variable Combo (DF + 3+6)

Beware! This move can be very deadly, for your enemy and YOU! After your two characters have finished their super moves, they will go into their exit and welcome poses. If you are accurate enough, your enemy may die a terrible death, but if your enemy has blocked the move and is near enough, you can also fall prey to the unlimited air combo!
